Large infrastructure projects don't get done in a year. They take many years. And it's not because government is doing them, they aren't. Most are done by private companies motivated to get them in service as quickly as possible.

ERCOT has little control over it. What is being controlled is there's a planned outage moratorium from May 15 to September 15, so no new connections are made during that time.
Thanks for the info and understand your comments. Maybe you can speak to this but A friend of a friend was commenting on this subject earlier this year and said something to the effect of the private utility companies get tax breaks or credits/incentives to have a percentage of their power generation output in so called “green energy” such as wind for added profitably etc.

So on one hand they claim they have increased output 10%~15% which is primarily due to wind but on the other hand if we have a heat wave and low wind, then the electrical output is actually worse than before because there are less natural gas plants up and operational.

I’m not in the industry but it seems as though here in Texas these notices of pending electrical brownouts became more common in just the last 3-4 years.

Let me know your thoughts.

My day, was a trip to the principals office, and get the paddle(dads permission, of course). If you were in the right class, you got an architect's ruler(triple edged), across the knuckles.

for some unknown reason the nuns loved using the cane on me. most teachers loved me, but the nuns, oh those bad nuns...

As a ex-powder guy, this video shows the missing (to me) detail required to get the results shown in the during and after pictures. It didn't make sense before.

Thank you,

been looking for a map of the world that apparently hangs in the united nations building. cant seem to find a pic of the one i've seen. when i come across it i'll share. apparently theres more past antartica and theres a treaty that no one is allowed to antartica, i wonder why. maybe buzzzzzz lightyear aldren? can tell us if the earth is round or flat, or maybe dick flying besos has the answers?

i have no doubts they are getting incentives to build solar and wind. For years, T. Boone and Buffet said it out loud, wind is not viable without the federal subsidies. im sure its still true.

in your friends comments, i dont think any existing NG plants are being taken down because of wind power being put online. i think its all functioning together to meet the demand. the big issues always are for the electrical grid that production has to meet demand instantaneously. there is not storage of electrical. Companies get paid by putting electricity on the grid and its bought at peak or low times. There are several large electrical providers that have put out calls for say, 700 MW of new generation and that they want 25% of that to be "renewable" with X amount of battery storage also.

I think ERCOT is very gunshy about the "brownouts" because of the Ice storm last year. In reality, what i know, there havent been summertime brownouts since it happened in Laredo around 2010. Since then, there has been massive investment in the power grid in generation and transmission. Currently, i think our grid is stronger than its ever been, and i am not a fan of wind power because of so many that i see broken down and not working.

i can tell you that there has been 10's of thousands of raw acres turned into solar farms over the last 6 years. and you couple that with the urban use of solar panels and i just cant see why we would be really having an issue with supply/demand right now. I mean, its hot as shit and 106 degrees pulls some KW.

its just interesting that people who dont know, think nothing is happening or that something earth shattering should be happening to the power grid improvements in less than 12 months. Beto OREOURKE is trying to make politcal hay out of this catering to people who are stupid and dont know. Unless he's willing to spend the tax payers money on backup generators for everyone in the state, the governor cant really do much.

Texas has been retired their coal fleet of plants for the last 10 years. That’s where the base load generation has gone. All the new alt energy sources are terrible for base load.

Is this a common occurrence?

Is anyone in for a promotion? Where we worked the saying was: you fuck up you move up!
One of our pilots had the FAA with him, he executed a blade strike in a helo on take off. Royal fuck up, next thing you know he is running the company! 🤣
