Yes, he flew into very bad fog and he was not instrument rated. He ended up with vertigo and was actually flying the plane upside down I believe when it crashed. At least that's what the report said. And well, we know now to take anything coming out of ".gov" to be potentially false.
Also airport personnel reported that his wife and SIL (I believe) were bitching at him. He was flying a plane that had capabilities beyond his skills, at night, and the passengers were bitching.
