Welcome to Texas February 2021.
ERCOT, the very entity entitled to ensure the electrical grid could meet demands failed. Badly. People died from the cold. As in dead, not rhetorically or semantically. As in deceased, no more heartbeat, no more breathing. People going to funerals. Dead.
Gov Abbott could not get rid of them.
This time, they said we could handle it because it was not a wet cold that would snap lines and get into transformers. Well, they should have done that before.
Now, Atmos, the only nat gas supplier in this part of Texas says to conserve and not heat so much so that they do not have supply problems.
Excuse me? You have had decades to figure out how to handle cold weather and that is the best you can do? Horseshit!
Figure it out and figure it out right now! Do you job for at least one day. Or get out of the way and let a competent person in there to do the job.
I hope that hurt some feelings. Feelings need to be hurt if we are going to prevent your or my elderly parent or uncle or aunt from dying because some suit wants to shirk responsibility.
Granted, the great Diaspora from California to states east of them is creating a huge demand. Texas is now the fastest growing state. Atmos and ERCOT better get their act together. Yesterday.
