That's what DC Link capacitors (inside of variable speed electric motor drives) sound like when they fail/explode. That is if they indeed do have variable speed electric motor drives inside the cars/cabins.
DC link capacitors don't usually smoke anywhere close to that much when they let loose. My guess is a secondary fire in one or more electrical cabinets that spread to other combustibles.
This is only one explanation among many possible ones. msm seems to want to sensationalize everything and get people to believe this is an act of terrorism. Could be, but it does correspond with my experience in the motor drives industry.
