The anchor baby thing is relatively new. I think it started in the 40's or later. It is not part of US law. There have been talks about shutting that avenue down retroactively.
I thought most people pointed at the 14th as the basis for birthright citizenship, that was around 1860-something. I think it was extended in accommodation of Native Indians some time in the early 1900s.
I'm not aware of anything official that says if you have a baby here you get citizenship. Might exist, I just don't know what it is.

I’m still not impressed with her. Her stated Goals were first and foremost DEI, and even after the budget cut, she formed a DEI bureau within the Department headed by that dud, Asst Chief, who was saying tough shit about a fallen firefighter. She may talk about her budget efforts, but it has been clear from the beginning, that “woke-ism” is what was her most important issue. Sure she’ll help get rid of the Mayor, but she and her cohorts also need to go. As well as their Governor.
