True story:

I got out of the military (many many years ago) and went to college. I was having trouble finding a part time job and my GI Bill hadn't come through yet. I wasn't sure where I was going to get my next meal.

Someone suggested that I apply for food stamps. I was taken aback since I didn't consider myself the type of person to get food stamps.

The person suggesting it was also a veteran and using his GI Bill for college. He told me that a lot of college students were doing it. He reasoned that I was a veteran and deserved it as much as anyone who didn't serve.

I thought about it and applied. I got $60 worth and that might give you an idea of how long ago it was.

I went to the LGS (Local Grocery Store NOT Local Gun Store) and went on a shopping spree for items like:

- Bologna
- White bread
- Oatmeal
- Canned fruit
- Big bags of dried beans
- Tang: (if any of you are old enough to remember that drink, then we can be friends) The orange juice was too expensive and wouldn't last as long.
- Instant coffee and I felt guilty getting that!
- Big bags of rice
- Spam

There were some more items and it's been so long that I can't remember but you get the idea. I wasn't buying luxury items.

I went to the check-out line and felt very embarrassed. Now here's the amazing part. We've all heard the stories but I never thought that I would personally witness it.

In front of me was a female Ubangi the size of gorilla with an ass like an elephant. She was piling on the choice cuts of steaks, ham, turkey, big bags of potato chips, soft drinks and the family gift packs of Hostess Twinkies. She had so much chocolate in her cart it would make Willy Wonka cry. There were enough doughnuts in her cart to make a cop choke. There were candy boxes of almost every shape size and colors that you could think of. There must have been a half dozen extra large frozen pizzas on top of everything else.

When it came my turn to check out I couldn't make myself look the cashier in the eye I was so embarrassed. So I watched the Ubangi go out to her late model Cadillac with her groceries. That Cadillac looked almost brand new. Yet I had a 1970 Ford Torino that had seen better days.

In a few weeks my GI Bill checks started to arrive and I found a part time job. The lady at the welfare office called me and asked if I need anymore food stamps. I told her no.

Now this is also the real disgusting part. I applied for those food stamps because I was really in need. I probably only had about $20-30 dollars in my pocket after paying for the rent. Regardless, I was now back on my feet with the GI Bill and a part time job.

Yet the welfare lady was really pushing the food stamps, almost to the point of begging me to apply for more. That was even after I told her that my GI Bill came through and I had a part time job. I told her that I had plenty of money. She finally gave up once she realized that I wasn't going to change my mind.

I often wondered how the welfare lady could look at the woman that was the size of an M-1 Abrams and think that fat ass needed more food when she looked like she was cornfed already.

So taking candy and soft drinks of the approved food stamps list sounds like a great idea!
knew an RN that was out of work after a long, debilitating and expensive hospitalization. unable to work post that for about 3 months. she had to go on food stamps for that period. when she was physically able to work again, she did. she was a bit naive and offered to pay the $ she used back. that was refused,of course. the bureaucrats running these programs have a vested interest in pushing them whenever they can.

I have friends and relatives in wheel chairs. I should say "were" in wheel chairs because almost all are gone now.

If anyone needs welfare, those folks do. That's what programs like food stamps were made for and for temporary emergency situations.

Here's another sad story. Back in the 90s, I talked with a gentleman who was in my father's battalion during WWII.

After he talked with me about some of his war experiences, he was telling me about his experience with a stroke.

The stroke left him unable to care for himself. So he had to go in a nursing home. As a result, Medicaid took his house, life savings and everything he owned to offset the expenses in the nursing home.

After some time, he got better and could even care for himself so much that he didn't need to stay in the nursing home. He moved out but do you think he got his house and savings back? No.

He was living in a trailer court when I talked with him. His house and life savings were gone. Ain't socialized medicine great?

saw a 100 yo woman on vent. sons were lawyers. they had arranged for her to be legally incompetent, which she was. before that they had transfered her substantial holdings into their control. she was,of course destitute,so they got her on medicaid. they refused to terminate the vent or her full resus status. the system is gamed in more ways than one can imagine. needs to be severely tightened up-LOL!

one can hope for our cultural survival. but watching what is unfolding you can see the poor likelihood of any successful long term outcome. i know it is a short time and early. of course,we must play by the "law" just like the other side has,of course done, for decades. but the fact that Fauci is still alive or at best not in prison is evidence that nothing will be done. Epstein,Diddy,Clintons,Obama,Miley,Bliken,Garland etc are all candidates for execution. i am not seeing anything but talk. at a minimum these judges that are releasing violent criminals back to the society need to be reigned in. as i recall, the Colombians have a very effective way to deal with judges like those.
There are many enemies that should be dealt with immediately—politicians, judges, appointed people, and citizens of all types. It is a virtually insurmountable task.

What isn't insurmountable is dealing with a small cross-section immediately. That will send a clear message to those who weren't selected.

not sure how bad it might be, but this could get ugly.
unfortunately, our own government is sort of responsible for getting china hooked on the american market.

I saw a video on Youtube that was taken a couple of months ago and there were cities with no one in them that used to be bustling. The video was from a food delivery guy who has no one to delivery to because they are all gone, no work. He mention that he was making $120,000 US a year just delivering food and now has to go somewhere else to find work. I'll look through my history to see if I can find the video, but it's been a while.

Andrew Bailey should have been the AG.
Possibly; but, I actually think in the times we have now that somebody with less exposure than he would be better. 4 children...aka...4 more areas for blackmail and threats. I think this is very likely why Justice ACB went nutso lefty.

Not to say Bailey doesn't have better credentials than Bondi, I just worry more about exposure here. But, you are correct...much more impressive than Bondo.
