I should probably explain myself better. There's an old proverb that goes "if there's trouble, I hope it happens in my time, so my children don't have to deal with it". Hopefully, our kids won't have to decide between cheap chicom shit, and domestically produced products that somebody took pride in.

It’s a pretty shitty situation. Chinese undercut our prices with slave labor, or extremely low paid labor. Minimal environmental controls as well. So they can sell cheap here.
Wages in the U.S. are low, but not too many complain because they can still buy stuff made by their direct competitors. Which keeps their competitors in business, so they can buy more shit.
