I can tell you unequivocally there have been "incidents" on USN vessels in which individuals with surprisingly short time aboard suddenly popped very high radiation monitor tags granting them immediate honorable discharge/retirement and high disability ratings before any symptoms manifested. Outside of individual personnel management, not sure how this was handled.And look at how many reactors the USN operates on ships and subs (sort of risky places) and nary an incident that I can recall although there may be a few. The Navy nuke guys I worked with at my time at Idaho INL were some of the most knowledgeable and professional folks I've ever worked with.
That being said, I'm in favor of nuclear power over throwing millions/billions in the name of "renewable energy research" conducted by "friends" of an administration.
