Nuclear power is purposely being held back and I would not be surprised if the big oil and gas producing regions are (as may have been proven already) paying off politicians and fringe "environmentalist" groups to suppress nuclear.

Eventually the long term goal of course is fusion reactors, which are always 10 to 20 years in the future, but if we ever get them working and are willing to start using them, it would let humanity evolve to the next stage.

Speaking of fusion, few people are aware that 35 nations, including US, are serious about this and have invested massive amounts of money, manpower, and infrastructure into a large-scale, net positive reactor under construction in Southern France.

This will ultimately make the green new wealth redistribution boondoggle obsolete and that is probably the reason why this project is flying under the radar.

Interestingly enough, the Chinese have been having some interesting successes in their research projects on fusion reactors.
