it isn't bad, but it needs to be coated in FDE, as for the elevation, try some hand loads

Except the side knob would not have "MILSPEC" etched into it, which would be utter bull$#!t and warrants a public complaint against Nightforce.

=4 Hey look I R smart!

Great thread, I was having the same problem but didnt have the balls to ask... now I just have to find that 100yd long 22 cal wooden dowel.

One more question, how often should I clean and when do I know it should be cleaned. I was also thinking I should rebreakin the barrel, think that may help get a few more MOA out of my scope?

Re: POS Nightforce ran out of adjustment at 300yds

The reason you are not making it to 300 yards is lack of velocity. You need to put 22mag cartridges in that thing, if the bolt wont close, force it. Dont worry about little things like a bolt not closing.

Re: POS Nightforce ran out of adjustment at 300yds

VJJ, See you did 2 things wrong.

You shoulda used A F1 with a H-58 reticle, that'll getcha about 70 mils with the scope dialed all the way up + being able to use the reticle all the way to the bottom of the FOV or...

Done it this here way like the pro's do.

Re: POS Nightforce ran out of adjustment at 300yds

You might try annealing the scope, and then setting your dies for minimal shoulder bump. I have the same setup and have no trouble reaching 1000 yards with it when I do my part.

Edit to ask: Did you contact the manufacturer? What did they say? I've never heard of Nightforce, good luck!

What you are missing is a Barska!

I was at the range this afternoon and used this....

Re: POS Nightforce ran out of adjustment at 300yds

It looks like the gap on the front ring is greater than that on the rear. Likely a result of the Nightforce tube alignment jig having a worn exhaust bearing. Nightforce is a good company, but sometimes they miss these. I've worked on a few in the past, usually takes 6 weeks, but I'll probably have it much longer, something like 12 months to 2 years. Don't be surprised if I finish other projects ahead of yours, even if you were first in line, It's just the way things happen in this industry. I'll get it hitting 1/4 moa out to 1000 or your money back.

Re: POS Nightforce ran out of adjustment at 300yds

That's exactly what I carried when I was a SEAL.

Thought the weapons we carried for "Black Ops" were TOP SECRET.
Where did you find our "SPECS", I am gonna have to call "my friends" that work for the FBI/DEA/ATF/CIA/OSI to start an investigation on how you obtained the "EYES ONLY" specs for our "Covert" long range, up close, high speed, low drag, nearly invisible, teflon coated and lightning proof, killing machine.

Re: POS Nightforce ran out of adjustment at 300yds

the gantry mount will solve your problem, talk to curtis if you want one. The mount has stood up to my 50.

Re: POS Nightforce ran out of adjustment at 300yds

Change your load and quit bitchin' about that NF!
I reload my 22LR shells. Pull the bullet and dose bout 20 grains of bullseye to what's in there. You gotta have a compressed load.
Also, do an OCW test. Do it at 500 yds. Any closer is a waste of time.
Ooh, you can always put the pistol in a vise and bend the barrel to help with yer problem too.
One last thing. Use a tall ring on back and a medium in front. That will give you extra come up.

Re: POS Nightforce ran out of adjustment at 300yds

OK so after reading some of yalls advice I went back to the drawing board. I switched over to a shorter barrel model hoping to achieve less cornholio effect, utilized a badger railed ring cap, and canted the piece of garbage scope 45 degrees as recommended to defeat spin drift. I then turned it upside down(obviously to reverse bullet drop) and using the rail ring cap as a mounting platform to tie into the manfrotto/DLOC-M tripod for the utmost stability. I cant wait to get this setup to the range, I will be the envy of all that witness me tearin up X ring at 1k yards

Almost better than this thread...

Re: POS Nightforce ran out of adjustment at 300yds

Sorry I got to this thread late, but I was out in the shop changing the muffler belt on the Zambuzzy Belchfire 4. Here's your problem, that thing next to the deal that's near or by the end of that other thing (that makes that squealy sound) needs adjustment. It does it everytime it's cold or um, hot but only if you pull that one lever by that deal...or maybe that's what is wrong with the wifes Jeep, I can't keep track of all this stuff. Uh, good luck.

If you rotate CCW by 45 degrees you reach the maximum potential of the modulating percolator installed in the HS scopes.

By centering the axis of the modulating percolator to the 45th degree, your deviated proximity to the target regardless of distance is maximized to the Nth degree. </div></div>

but that only works during the vernal equinox!
