I am interested in seeing what everyone else is using as a general use type of rimfire rifle. The sort that if you are out camping etc that you would grab first to carry in your pack or sling over your shoulder.
I have a small and light Zastava CZ99 .22lr that has iron sights (soon to have a cheap scope added), sling and I can shoot pretty well. It is very light and a pleasure to carry, even though all parts are steel and wood as most Eastern Bloc guns are. Best of all it likes cheap ammo the best

I have yet to find anything I like more than a standard 10/22 for general campsite usage, but I am thinking about installing a rear peep sight onto it for better accuracy in my aim. Kind of wish I had a SS version though.

For pistol it's my Buckmark Bullseye with a Tacsol barrel. It functions flawlessly and currently has a Burris Fastfire II on top for fun on the steel range.

The MKII has been used heavily in the suppressed mode for more than a decade:

Long before aftermarket rails were common for MKIIs:

That being said, Marlin's little 795 is a screaming accurate rifle that is dirt cheap. I have picked up a couple of them. One is setup with peep sights (Tech) and the other with a K4 Weaver.

They are super lightweight and give my expensive .22s a run for their money at a fraction of the cost.

The Smith Model 17 and 18 have to be mentioned as well. They have spet a fair amount of time afield:

for camping, the rimfire stays home and is replaced by a glock .357 sig and a shotgun. </div></div>

TP,

What did you use to paint your rifle? That's amazing.

Barrel shortened 2", 20oz. trigger job, in a BV stock. Nice light, quick handling little rifle. Pure utility.
