    The land of many waters
I have been scouring the forums here and elsewhere for load data for 30-06 with bullets from 190 to 215 gr. I have found very little and what I have found is almost universally RL22. I really need a temp stable powder because yearly temp swings here are in excess of 100 degrees.
I have been considering H4350 on the faster side and H4831 on the slow end. Any recommendations?
    26” barrel.
    Thanks

I have used RL22, RL23, H4350, IMR 4350 and IMR 4451. 4350 of both sorts and 4451 was the most accurate. I’m still burning through the last of my 4350 and then I’m switching over to 4451 exclusively.

RL22 and IMR 4350 are temp sensitive, I don’t know how quirky they get because I’ve always done my load development in the summer when temps are high plus I don’t try for the hottest node either. I’d say if you follow some of the more popular load combos listed in the .30-06 thread you should be okay but I wouldn’t do any hot load development right now unless you are one of those fortunate people that are living in a warm region.

Anyone messed around with 4000MR? I know that 2000MR meters like water in my dispensers. My speed of seating bullets is the limiting factor when reloading 308.

I will probably give H4350, H4831sc, and 4000MR a chance when I get the rifle barreled.

Currently Alliant is showing this for 4000MR and their data is notoriously conservative.

I just recently started using h4831sc in my 30-06 and have been pleased with it. Can’t attest to its temp stability but will find out as it warms up in several months. My 30-06 is a 28” tube with a looonng throat. I shoot berger 200.20x’s at a little over 2800fps with 60.5gr of powder.. its at the upper end of the node but no ejector marks and smooth bolt lift.. i may have to back it down when summer comes. Im waiting to see how primer pockets hold up... i would not hesitate to to recommend H4831sc.

I've ran H4831sc in my 30-06 with the 208 amax and eld for several years and several thousand rounds. I switched to it from RL22 as I would get 2800fps in the summer and close to 2700 in the winter with the RL 22 load. The H4831sc gave me 2750 and little deviation with temperature. This was out of a 26" barrel.
I've since re-barreled with a 22" tube and haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I'm hoping I still get decent velocity with H4831sc, but will probalby try H4350 as well.

    Hope this helps some.

What is your CBTO? I am loading this same combo for my Dad's. 30-06, and just starting to get a very slight "crunch" @ 58.5gr H4831SC w. 2.732" CBTO (.020" jump). 57.5gr is almost a compressed load.

I have yet to shoot these. Starting @ 53.5gr and will be working up. Hodgdon has a

Hands down 4000MR. I've used it with Hornady 200 gr. ELD-X with excellent results, producing .5 MOA and 2781 FPS out of a 26" barrel. My rifle did not shoot 210 Bergers well with this powder, for those I had good results with H4350 but with velocities in the mid-2500s.

I would have to look at my data again but the 200.20x is loaded fairly long. The boat tail junction of the bullet is even with the neck/shoulder junction of the case. With my comparator i think its 2.670”

I was wondering about R16 with 210 VLDs in my Rem 700 22" .30-06. I had been unable to find anyone talking about that combo so I was thinking it was a no go. But isn't R16 temp stable?

RL16 is very temp stable but results will vary a little per application. It might be on the verge of a little fast with 210 VLD’s but you can always try it. Reamer specs and barrel length will dictate the results you get.

I picked up a keg of StaBall 6.5 since it’s a ball powder, I’ve grown tired of weighing charges so I hope this will work. According to their web data it will work with heavy .30-06 bullets.

You guys let us know how it goes.. just moved into a new home and have all my reloading and gun stuff in but i need to organize it and really get it set up. I haven’t shot in a few weeks and haven’t reloaded anything in probably longer than that. So im kinda starting to itch
