I was fortunate enough to have my folks visit me a couple weeks back (before heading out the wilds of NC for a bit). My Dad wanted to see the Magnetospeed V3 do its thing and get some data for his 6.8 SPC at the same time. I thought it would be fun to collect a larger data set than normal. Bottom line, 20 rds of 115 grain PPU ran at an average of 2473 fps (relatively mild) w/ an SD of 8.5 fps.
I figured I'd have another go with my KRG SOTIC at the same time (dearly hoping for more velocity). Hornady factory ELD-M ran a 10 shot string with a SD of 19.1 fps. I didn't know whether to scratch my head or be impressed or what.
In other news, I was using 150 grain, M1 spec PPU ammo to do a rough zero on my new Winchester M70...and it threw a nice sub-MOA group (prone, rested up front on my "rear" bag)...while my 2 y/o was jumping on me. Now, to be fair, it was only three shots...but, it was also like a half inch. I gotta remember to upload the pics (or it didn't happen, right?).
I'd say that, for bargain ammo, you could do a hell of a lot worse than PPU.
