Hunting & Fishing Praire Dog hunting in or near TX,KS,OK??

Looking for a good place within driving range no further than southern KS to go kill some PD .

I'd like to go where i can pull my truck in , set the table up and go to killing. Not looking for a guide or paid hunt.

Looking for local places etc that are free to hunt .

Any suggestions where i should go?? What time of year is a good time to hunt them , since this will be my first time. I'd also like a place where i can shoot them not just close up but out to 400-1000yrds if possible.

SW KS around Liberal has some somewhere... I miss my place up in NW kansas when I was in h.s. Didn't realize how good we had it. But then the farmer killed them off. :\

It's been many years, but I second the Liberal, KS area. Last time I was there, there was some good shooting out in the fields.

I miss shooting in TX. Used to have a couple of really good spots but either the person I knew moved on or the dogs got hit by plague. Lots of dogs, at one time, around the cap rock area. Check out Dickens area.
