PRE 64 WINCHESTER STOCK

I have a Pre 64 Winchester target model M70 that I want to replace the stock on. But trying to find a stock with a heavy barrel channel is tough. Does anyone have a contact for someone who makes such a stock? I need a sporter stock in walnut preferred

You need to find a low comb sporter stock and open barrel channel with a deep well socket and sandpaper. I found a sporter stock today but it had been cut and pad added...

They list the Heavy Varmint Barrel channel as an option.

You talking about the one that Carlos had on his 30-06 or this one?

My buddy said he pulled this off an early 1964 rifle.

It's sitting on the last model 70 made before they closed the plant.

ah they're out there, you may have the find the whole rifle though.

This model 70 is sitting back in my gunsafe where it belongs. I may make a build out of it down the road...nothing historic, nothing tactical, just something that shoots 1200 yards reliably..
