Are there any compiled lists of gunsmiths for precision rifles anywhere on the forums? Preferably broken down into states. It's hard to weed through all the gunsmiths on Google who only build AR and hunting rifles with no first hand knowledge of how to blueprint a Remington 700 action.

Well, there have been a few picture threads on here on how to properly blue print/true a Remington action by damn good rifle builders such as William Roscoe for one. Mine is a bit out dated, but it gives you an idea of what is done, which was one of the reasons I posted it.

As for a list of legit smiths, that's also been posted, only not made a sticky. The question comes up so many times that maybe there should be a sticky of the smiths that pay dues on this site. A vendors list would help them a bunch for business. I myself have posted lists of many of the guys on here that have an FFL and contribute to this site by paying their dues in money, contributions at SH events, and from time to time offer their profesional opinions when member ask for it.

Here's a couple of the best guys, but these are only two of a bunch of really good ones.

Mark Gordon at Short Action Customes
Chad Dixon at Long Rifles

I'm aware of what is involved to blueprint an action but most gunsmiths aren't set up or don't have first hand knowledge of how to. William Roscoe is no longer taking on work and is soon closing shop. Mr. Roscoe refered me to another local smith but I would like to have a back up just incase this other smith doesn't want to take on the work. I'm looking preferably someone in East Texas if not in northern Louisiana.
