Work in progress

Can you explain what “shouldered, turned and inleted” means....just trying to learn

Turned is what is done on lath profiling the barrel could also include threading.
Inletting is making room in the chassis or stock to fit the action. Different actions have different sized recoil lugs some thicker some wider. Just because it is a Remington 700 foot print does not mean an exact fit.
Shouldered barrels come pre head spaced by the person/shop that cuts the barrel. If you have a tight tolerance action a barrel can be made without the action following the tenon print.

If I missed anything or spoke incorrectly I’m sure someone can step in and make a better explanation. Lots of much more knowledgeable people on the hide than myself. Hope that help clear it up a little.

Work in progress...have a MK5 HD 5-25 TMR ready to go on the Tac A1 .308, waiting on the 7-35 MK HD for the Bergara B17 6 creed.

Haven't shot it yet, but no issues with the little time I have spent behind it to get everything adjusted. I like that adding weight wasn't an after thought and was able to easily get it balanced right in front of the mag well. Haven't weighed it yet, but estimating around 20 lbs. Some have issues with the slightly longer LOP, but it fits me perfectly as it's currently setup. I think my favorite feature is the long forend with the integrated dovetail cuts.

Really nice rifles around here...

My latest build...
Bighorn Origin
Criterion barrel in 6.5 CM
XLR Envy chassis
Vortex scope with the new floating dot reticle (really like (y))

It's little sister is bringing up the rear...
Savage action
Criterion barrel in .223
XLR Element chassis
Athlon Ares ETR scope (also like the dot reticle in it)

Given these barrels are fit with a barrel nut, I was able to do the work myself. Both were really fun projects. Still doing load development on the 6.5, but the .223 really enjoys 80SMK's and 24.8 gr. of Varget.

I really like the weight and design of the XLR chassis systems....I have the older element, but it’s been excellent.

Build info:
Big Horn TL3
MPA BA Competition Chassis
Bartlein 6.5x47 Lapua Barrel
Harris Bipod
Kahles k525i Scope with Spuhr mounts
Trigger Tech Diamond Trigger
Insight Arms Heathen Muzzle Break

The gun was built by gunsmith Jon Beanland of Beanland Custom Rifles.

The group is a 4 shot group at 100 yards.

And finally, the speeds and SD I'm getting. I did some long range verification after getting these measurements, and found that I was shooting closer to 2900 fps.

Sold my 700/AICS a few years back, decided to get back into bolt guns on the (relatively) cheap recently. Bought a slightly used Howa, found a deal on a B&C stock on ebay to replace the original Hogue, and picked up a Vortex Strike Eagle on closeout.

Still need (want) to replace the DNZ Game Reaper mount with a rail before I take it to the range to see what it will do.

Eventually the metal/scope will get Krylon rattlecan camo.

How are you liking the A-10? Being blessed with short arms, I like the concept. Considering it against a MCS EH1. Do you have any straight side pictures? What is the min/max LOP?

Nice rig, Gina. I find few things more satisfying than using something I designed and/or built. I hope you win a lot of matches with that thing.

The thread title is a bit confusing. My rifles definitely arent for PRS, but definitely are precision rifles. I shoot belly benchrest aka F Open. The savage i guess could be a PRS rifle by putting the DBM back in and removing the bag riders.

My first F Open rifle a savage 12 LRP 6.5 Creedmoor with a Shilen select match barrel, Boyds At-One stock with homemade aluminum bag riders, Nat lambert bolt lift mod, sharp shooter supply sigle shot adapter, and a konuspro M30 10-40×52 scope. Best group i ever had at 1k was 10". Loads are 140 eldms, H4350, cci br2 primers, in peterson brass. 2840 fps

My new to me F Open rig is a 284 win Kelbly panda action with 20 moa base, brux barrel, jewel trigger. Precision rifle and tool lowboy stock, and a Nightforce br comp 12-42×56 scope. Load is berger hybrid target 180s, H4831sc, cci br primers, and lapua brass. 2900 fps.

My front rest is a bit different now, sent my shadetree engineering top in to butch. He went through it and swapped out the post. I put that topper on my bald eagle base. Lots better course adjustment than the homemade base i bought the used se&a coaxial topper in.
