Can you give some more info on the rifle, like how accurate the return to zero is, your thoughts on the curtis vs other custom actions, build time on the rifle, etc? I'm looking to build a compact take down rifle on the MPA BA lite folder with a 16" switch lug 6.5 creedmoor barrel and add a 7 saum or wsm and 223 barrel down the line.

I haven't switched barrels yet. I pretty much went this rout specifically for a barrel letting go during the season where I could swap for a new one without worrying about a gunsmith, rather than to shoot multiple calibers. Though, it is nice that I could just get a different barrel if I wanted to.

From my own research and talking to a few people who are running the West Texas Ordnance SL system, on the Axiom or others, the POI change when swapping barrels is so predictable (assuming that you index it correctly and have DOPEd the swap) you can reset your scope to known values without having to re-zero the rifle. There are guys who have done it in the middle of a match or on the second day of a match when the wind conditions changed drastically.

It seems to be a very solid action. It isn't crazy tight, or sloppy loose. I love the 60 deg throw. I think it's right there with a Defiance or a BigHorn, which are the others I am familiar with and have experience with. Honestly is seems just as good to me, but I'm not a machinist like some on here, and don't consider myself an authority beyond, "It works good".

That rifle is essentially what Phil Cashin of MPA runs in matches. I basically just copied everything he had. I simply figured he knew what worked well in his chassis better than I did. Everything was sourced by MPA, and where this differs from their SL stock combination I told them, "Make it like Phil's". I think it was 3 months from order to picking it up at the LGS, but some of that speed was that it was not really a "custom build", but rather one of their combinations. That's not the first time I've listened to a rifle builder and had them make what they thought would work. I have a good track record doing it that way, and no ego. I don't build rifles. I shoot them.

The barrel is about settled out speed wise and it is shooting bug holes with 105s running 3130 fps with extremely low SD/ES. I have zero complaints on scope or rifle, and I'm certain the score at the end of the match was all me and what I can do. I have total confidence in the equipment.

I think you will be very pleased with the end result. I certainly am.

That's even better than I was hoping for. I was thinking I might have to focus on scopes that have a toolless rezero if I'm gonna be taking the barrel off and on very frequently, but if it's right on/ within 0.1 mil, I can just dial that out. I'm glad you like the action, I have a defiance on my target gun and a tikka for a hunting rifle, so that's the extent of my action knowledge. I'm not machinist either, but the axiom seems well priced with good reports, and I'm pretty indifferent on the 90 vs 60 thing. And three months seems like a great turn around time, I'd be perfectly happy with even twice that. It seems like you've got a solid setup, thanks for all the insight.

Well, this isn't exactly my custom but I had this one out today and decided I needed to participate. Just my fun gun..

@ICU22250 that is a beauty!! Can we hear more about the Tikka mini chassis, your thoughts on the stock, etc etc.

I have a CTR that whispers to me about the Manners Tikka mini chassis. I need to know whether or not to listen :)

I like it, but if I could change anything it would be to go with the PRS2 because of the way it rides in the rear bag.. seems to fit snug in the stock, I had to do just a wee bit of trimming around the safety lever at the top as it was contacting and making it bind just a little. Was a simple 5 minute job with a dremel and you can't even see it... It does give the rifle a little bit of sexy, definitely an upgrade from the standard Tikka stock... If I were you, I would get one of the newer PRS models, I just think they're made a little nicer as far as feel goes, just my opinion though...

Sako TRG 22 chambered in 6mm creedmoor by ga precision. Lra bipod and kahles 624i scope. 5 shot group at 100 during break in from a clean barrel. First shots on a clean barrel seem to hit low.

@ICU22250 - love the bolt fluting. How does the bolt cycle after the fluting? Still as smooth as butter like a typical Tikka action?

Bolt still cycles great, I can feel a little bit of difference but not very much.. Chad at LRI done a fantastic job, and had it done it a couple of weeks. Top notch shop with excellent communication and work...
