Re: precision rifles... show em

My not quite correct rendition of an M40A1:

m40a1gw3.jpg

Shilen #8 .308
Leupy MK4 10X M3
IOR base
TPS rings
Real stock, real sling, real bottom metal
Alumahyde II O.D.

Now I have a Remington 700, I guess the Savage'll become a doorstop or a turd stirrer: :firedevil:

Bada$$ thread protector...

Surgeon Rifles Tactical action with Purple Bolt option/6XC/Krieger 26" 7.5 twist/McMillan A5 integral cheekpiece Desert Camo etc/Badger DM and Rings/Jewel trigger/S&B 4-16 x 50mm lit DTAC reticle (borrowed from my Tubb SPEC TAC LR)/Flush Mount QD swivels

Break in consisted of shooting three Tubb TMS loads and clean - repeat for 9 total shots, same break in as SPEC TAC LR.

Preston was spotting and claimed that multiple shots went through the same hole @ 100 yds.(115 gr DTAC). Maybe he can give you the particulars, I was just shooting to get out of the sun...

We were shooting from his mobile bench rest. That is OK speak for shooting off a flat bed truck where the bed is painted BLACK - sitting in the middle of farmer's field in mid 90's degree mid-day sun without shade...The bed got hotter than our barrels

The heat and sweating didn't seem to phase Preston at all. However, he kept muttering something about muzzle brakes, comps, and a Texan with a 300WM...

Preston, many thanks to you and your crew (especially Matt) for this outstanding stick.

Almost forgot...yes MOLY...

Re: precision rifles... show em

Nobody: you know the barrel contour of that 280 Rem?

The hunting stocks usually only takes a #5 contour, but that one looks bigger!

Re: precision rifles... show em

Northman,

Stock is a Sako Varmint pattern.

Contour is PSS-ish and it's .855" at the 24" muzzle.

56grs of Re-22,grants 2800fps on the nose with 162A-Max,SD's in single digits and it hangs nice little knots. Come-ups largely jive with the M3's 300Winny 190SMK cam and I'll have it out tomorrow after a wayward Buck.

10.5lbs,as illustrated,less bipod.

Not a bad machine.
