Is anyone in the North East running on site tactical precision rimfire matches? I love the "postal" matches on the Hide, but getting out doors and being able to go one on one with steel is alot better...

We have tried the Member Link Up section but have not had any luck. we (Russ10X) and I actually want to run a match and need to find a facility to host it. We hope to find enough interest to be able to approach a range and make it a worthwhile event for both parties. (proceeds to go to a charity, like Wounded Warrior).

The match will be a benefit match for The Wounded Warrior Project. We need something 200 yards, CT or NY border....even private lands...the targets are mostly steel, and portable...that is the beauty of Rimfire Precision, or even full bore precision matches...

Do a google search for clubs in your region that hold centerfire and or small bore silhouette matches. They would at least have steel and rails/racks for targets. Do a combo of steel and paper Stages. Although shooting steel is a MUCH more satisfying experience.

there's something listing events (rimfire or centerfire) by state in the competition section for 2013, i don't know if there will be anything freshened up for 2014.

i run a long distance (actually medium distance) steel match at Factoryville Pa, 2014 season starts in April.

nothing says you HAVE to use Cfire, there were a few guys actually using Rfires out to 425Y.

thanks functional - i do the above and silhouette, but as far as a dedicated precision "tactical" Rfire course, there's nothing around that i know of.

Hammertime/Russ10X there is a place in Tarrytown NY that goes out to 200 with quite a few benches. Its called Blue Mountain, its a state park range but quite a few Vets older and younger are the range marshals. Might want to give them a call as they have hosted a small shoot a year or two ago.

Anytime Top Predator...been working on an AR build to try and get out there for your events. Either way Id like to make a trip out there in early spring with at least the .22. Seems like a great time.

^ be happy to have ya!

i was thinking a couple years back of "creating" a sanctioned or hosting body with a website and such, so that "tactical" precision rimfire competitions could have a place to post up and have scenarios / COF to be used by many of the already established matches out there. this way a match, or at least 1 stage, held in nevada would be the same as one in new jersey.

a meager "association or member" fee to pay for the website, scorecards, rule books, window sticker and such. fees would also go for trophies and stuff. was thinking of the name T.P.R.A. (Tactical / Precision Rimfire Association). 2 divisions, bolt and semi auto, sporter and heavy barrel, yearly qualification shooter classes (expert, sharpshooter, marksman) or keep a scoring record and graduate as scores improve, like silhouette. keep the rules simple, and toss out the BS that other sanctioning bodies have that actually limit many folks from competing, or even wanting to.

between go daddy and paypal, it wouldn't be that hard to set up and do....but then i got caught up in the rest of the crap i do, and all that fell to the wayside.

i squirreled away this links, but think they are now fubar with the forum switchover:

the advanced search gives a bunch of matches held across the nation over the last few years, but a dedicated thread would be nice just as a FYI...i guess all one would have to do is just start a thread for precision rimfire matches for 2014 and just edit / add to the header everytime a new event was posted for a particular state.

as SH is a worldwide thing, it would not only have to be done for stuff in the US, but other countries as well.

i'll tell ya what, i'll start the thread now for 2014, and see how much traffic it gets. even if it's just posting the links to other events to combine them in one spot so it doesn't get too busy with descriptions, that can be taken care of in the separate threads.

I'm interested in something in the same area- I am just south of Hartford, Danbury is feasible now and then, but more than an hour and a half drive ends up usually not working out. I'd have to plan a weekend with th ewhole family to pull off PA for the next year or two. There is a 300 yard range in Southington but I don't know anyone who shoots there.

We will be running Precision Tactical Rimfire Matches at the Old Bridge Rifle Pistol Club in New Jersey in 2014. We ran a mini match last Saturday using the 50 Yard Range. See the OBRAMS.org Web Site for more information.

There is a great bunch of people at Old Bridge.

I always enjoyed shooting there.

Here's the one I run. We added a Bipod Class recently. Max rifle weight with bipod is 10 lbs. Must be magazine fed. Bolt or auto OK. Wind is not your friend. Brock's Gap Training Center, Hoover, Alabama - 22 Sniper Match
These guys are starting to set the standard for a fun local match. The California guys are setting the standard for a national recognized match. So, hopefully this is going to catch on. I am going to present it to my club this summer...
