Just curious if anyone else has ever contemplated this. With the popularity of Vudoo rifles the United States, and their ability to just flat out win, when do you think we will start to see the V-22 competing on the world stage? Is it possible? I will be watching when Vudoos compete in the Olympics, etc. As the popularity of Vudoo rifles skyrockets, I am seeing some impact to the Anschutz market, especially in the resale market. Maybe not on factory new rifles yet but I see Anschutz rifles for sale at great prices that pre-Vudoo would have been snapped up. The world has taken notice.

Maybe biathlon is the only match they use repeaters in so unless they morph into a straight pull it's probably not happening.
Accurate single shots have existed for ages and it's not the point of a vudoo. Which exists because it is an accurate repeater in a 700 footprint and while that's great for us, it's a moot point in a lot of other shooting matches. Also I don't think you can discount sports conservatism and shouldn't automatically count on a clearly better system being adopted on its merits alone.

Anschutz discontinued making rifles like the 18:54 msr and do not truely make a precision repeater, the 17 series are not the same as the 54 match rifles. So clearly they do not see a market there, which is a pity but imagine how popular vudoo would be if they were a unique footprint and not a 700, at that price being a precision repeater alone is not enough to sell it for most people imo.
I've had several Anschutz repeaters, both 54 and 64 actions, none of them were 100% reliable ejection and/or feeding.
I think the 17xx series straight pull fixed the issues and they have focused on those. I've never owned one, so I can't comment on the reliability.

Absolutely no reason a vudoo couldn't win but it depends on a shooter doing it. I would not be surprised if at that level the line up was two or three rifles between all shooters. Look at biathlon, almost if not 100% anschutz 1827 rifles even though other straight pulls exist and the accuracy requirements are not extraordinary. Look at benchrest, one year someone's shoots amazingly and the next everyone is using the same action. High level sports are not always the ideal breeding grounds for experimentation.
I want to know when they are going to start shooting a real caliber in the olympics then maybe it will be interesting....22 is gayier than aides...The Lords Caliber or GTFO
I’m sorry but it won’t be competitive. The .22s used for 3P are designed from the ground up for that discipline. The Voodoo is sweet because it mimics a rifle that most of us would shoot for center fire. But it won’t hold a candle to the way the 3P rifles are designed to be shot in different positions. (My wife is an Olympian 3P shooter)
If olympic shooting is like every other sport, the equipment is selected due to some combination of tradition and sponsorship.

The chances of the IOC banning shooting sports altogether are unfortunately probably higher than any shifts in suppliers.
You must be mistaking popularity on this site with popularity in the USA. "Positional rifle"(which is confusing as a term, as it could equally apply those that shoot Olympic 3 position or NRA high power) is a small niche within the niche of sport shooting. I can't remember ever seeing prime time coverage of ANY Olympic shooting sport other than biathlon- and I think most consider that a skiing sport. In summary, no I don't think you will ever see PRS style shooting in the olympics.
Very interesting question. We've had rifles at the USOTC and I've been in collab with coaches and others there. And, I agree, the current Vudoo wasn't designed to fulfill such a role, although the testing at USOTC was quite impressive. Although I have no interest in Biathlon, I do have interests in other disciplines within the Olympics. Stay tuned....

Accuracy is not where the advances in International (Olympic) style rifles has occurred recently. The advances that are responsible for the higher performance levels that we see today have been in ergonomics and adjustability.
First of all, the chances of any new shooting sport being accepted by the IOC is between zero and none. I predict that in less than 20 years there will be no firearms in the Olympics, period.
Second of all, you severely overestimate the popularity of PRS/NRL type shooting in the US. The people who brag about that "sport" growth are being disingenuous. 25% growth could mean you went from 100 to 125 shooters in a year. And growth will flatten out, guaranteed. What are the number of active competitors in NRL/PRS shooting? What's the number of active competitors across all of the NRA centerfire disciplines? You'd be shocked at the difference and not in the way you expect. By the by, participation in trap, skeet, and sporting clays competition overshadows all rifle competition in the USA.
It would be awesome to see American athletes winning with American rifles.

Vudoo is just an action in itself, i'm not seeing where this claim for superior accuracy is coming from? In the local matches whether NRL or longer distance I do see people winning that shoot Vudoo. However those same people were winning shooting "X" brand rifle before they made the switch. I also see a lot of people with some very nice decked out Vudoo's getting their tales waxed. To direct this to the OP's statement, why would any Olympian's make the switch when accuracy comparisons between the rifles would more then likley not gain them anything. I'm assuming those guys have connections to ammo test facilities that average joe's do not, once they have the ammo correct for that gun I don't see how any greater accuracy could be achieved for their purposes besides adjusting the nut behind the gun. Not a bash toward Vudoo or any other brand rifle, guess I just don't see the accuracy pixey dust.
I wonder why the people that were already winning with brand x would switch to Vudoo? I ordered mine because of what ive read and talking to a friend that shot a Vudoo at a match and out shot his two anschutzs.
Ok. ...when will Vudoos start showing up at the top of winner brackets at benchrest matches? I just got my Vudoo at the beginning of summer 2019. Ive never shot a benchrest match in my life. My Vudoo was scoring at the top of the bracket out of the gate. This was a 100 yd club match with some great shooters with Anschutz 54s and Winchester 52s etc from shooters shooting this event for decades. Now I've been shooting a long while but new to benchrest and NRL So I can't take credit for the superb accuracy and having some of the top scores for the summer, I have to give all of the credit to the gun.
The V-22 is a fine rifle. It is well built, it functions well, it is accurate, and easily replicates rem 700 ergonomics. It is probably the best trainer out there for people who want a rimfire that replicates their centerfire. With all that said it will likely never appear in the Olympics. Biathlon is so specialized that I highly doubt any non straight pull rifle will ever be able to compete. As someone said it is a skiing event with some shooting thrown in. Accuracy is important but the difference between a gun that shoots 1/2" groups vs 3/8" or even 1/4" is irrelevant, however speed and ease of use with gloves are much more important. No matter how fast you can work the bolt on a Vudoo it is never as fast or as easy to work as a straight pull. When it comes to three position a repeater, no matter how accurate, is going to have a hard time competing against purpose built single shots like Anschutz, Walther, Feinwerkbau, and Bleiker that cost over 3 times as much. In that type of competition there is zero benefit to being a repeater as they are shooting with ample time limits. The Vudoo is an outstanding trainer and will probably be highly successful in club benchrest matches as well as being by far the most popular rimfire PRS/NRL rifle. It has some phenomenal engineering and I would probably own one if I could find it in my heart to sell the multiple rifles I own whose individual niches could be covered by one V-22. However, I just don't see it making any kind of splash at the Olympics.
All of what you're saying is dead on and I appreciate you speaking so highly of the V-22. However, there would never be a plan to incorporate the V-22 into Olympic use. In a post just prior to yours, the OP was just as dead-on with his comments as well and I certainly appreciate the relevance.
The statement was made that the "Vudoo is just an action within itself" and contextually, as it pertains to the V-22, this isn't wrong. But in a more applicable context, "Vudoo" is a company with an ability to create, design and develop anything we want, no matter how complex. We've not painted ourselves into a corner from a product perspective and I'd never claim or expect that the current V-22 is useful as an Olympic platform....quite simply, it's the wrong tool for the job. Having said that, I have no interest in Biathlon, although, I've done a bit of design work in this area. This leaves a few areas that I have a high degree of interest in where the American Olympians are concerned and I might even be pretty far down the road already on the development.

I think people are overestimating the V-22 accuracy , folks that never shot the guns they think it could run against. 3p is shot with some of the most accurate Rimfires ever developed and without exception all feature extreme short lock times not seen on any US made action ither rimfre or centerfire , all feature vertical sear two stage triggers that make best Rem700 compatible triggers seem crude (both features very important to sling shooters).In Biathlon the straight pull Fortner action is without peer in terms of speed , feature similar short locktimes and 2 stage vertical sear triggers and its accuracy is optimised for -20°C
In US BR scene ,single shot rifles using actions like Turbo,2500x are next level accurate over Voodoo V-22 ,but due to slow lock time and trigger none are that competitive in slingshooting where Euro actions dominate.

I appreciate the areas of recognition, but relating to the comments about not being competitive with single shot bolt guns, have you experienced this first hand? According to numerous F Class and BR Shooters, their Vudoo platforms are competing nicely with single shot bolt guns. One guy in particular has a BR gun built on a 2500X and his Vudoo turns in better scores....as a repeater.

No doubt the Turbo and 2500X are fine actions, but to say they're "next level" is a bit of a stretch. I know this because I've actually tested many of them (Anschutz, Hall, 10X, Stiller (Holeshot)) and as I mentioned above, it's being proven to not be the case, and that's against our repeater feeding from the magazine. Again, I'll reiterate, we can create, design and develop anything we want, regardless of the level of complexity and I'm way ahead of you on triggers and fire control systems with vertical sear faces. My vertical sear fire control has been in testing for well over a year and it's only the tip of the iceberg.

While i havent run a Voodoo V22 , i have the others you mention also desigend a built my own singleshot ,3 lug Rimfire action , am pretty familiar with BR scene and have hosted largest RFBR competition ever WC couple of years back with shooters from some 32countries attending . Also have great insight in to positional shooting and one of the worlds all time greats with multiple OI medals and EC and WC records runs on gun tuned by us.
As you mentioned a 2500x being run around by Voodoo V22 i believe that ,but generaly not any 2500x is competitve in BR scene beyond club matches , like in every scene there are plenty of duds around only certain smiths make competitive guns. In terms of Euro rifles at present the best out of the box is Walther KK500 and small series font lockers like Bleiker

Someone here should mention vudoo is a good 700 pattern action, but wouldn’t hold up in Olympic or BR environment.
I must have missed where these actions were being advertised as Bench Rest or Olympic options.

I'm posting in this thread because someone asked a question that involves a platform I designed and made by a company I own and as usual, my participation is in an effort to keep information relevant. Right now, it's certainly understandable that what everyone knows us as is the V-22 action, which of course was purpose designed for a pretty specific use.
Although the OP asks about the V-22 competing on the world stage, that's not what it was designed for and therefore, isn't a good choice to build an Olympic style rifle on. In addition, during the time it was being developed, BR was the furthest thing from my mind, but, it doesn't mean the current platform as built hasn't competed well in disciplines other than PRS and NRL.
Another point of relevance is related to the typical conjecture revolving around statements made with conviction, but when I ask, "have you experienced this for yourself," I typically hear, "well, no I haven't, but...."
So, stayed tuned for what we have in store for other disciplines.

This is off topic - sorry OP - but since Ravage88 is on this thread, is Vudoo planning to have any vendors in Europe? I see the only places outside the US are in Canada and Oz. I know the duty, import and sales taxes would significantly raise prices in the EU but it would be nice to have the option without any complicated personal import stuff to do which I'd be totally lost with. Here's hoping! Anyway, still love seeing other peoples Vudoo's here. Look forward to hopefully seeing the US team shoot the next iteration from V.G.W. in development

We're currently using Reloading International to get Vudoo's into Europe and it's working quite well. Any potential dealers in Europe are welcome to work directly with Reloading International and I can provide contact info if need be. We'll also be at IWA early next year so maybe you can stop by.

Ok... Prediction#2... Straight pull V-22. We'll call it the V-22v2. .. lol. Although I like the idea. It wouldn't mimic the bolt action replication of a full size rifle like the v22 but sure would be nice for nrl22. Might save me from timing out on a few stages

Seriously at this point I'm starting to wonder what it is you expect out of a rifle. Straight pulls exist, vudoo exist, you could have both but not in one rifle. If you are timing out, how much time do you expect a straight pull to save?

Not really, at the higher levels of shooting (esp. positional), the slow lock time of a semi pretty much rules them out.
Some of you people who keep guessing at shit like a straight pull voodu need to read more and post less. Ravage88 has stated at least once that he has no interest in biathlon.
