It's not about just timing out. it's about having a few extra seconds to take your time on every shot rather than rushing the last one if you know you are close on time. When running the timer, I see many shooters who have like one or two seconds to go before the time runs out, even though they are running the bolt quickly. Maybe a straight pull could save a few seconds , but I I have never shot a straight pull so I can't speak knowledgeably about it. Maybe it wouldn't save any time but I'm not sure

Just because it's straight pull doesn't automatically make it a 'biathlon' rifle. Hell I would run it on the nrl22 course, no skis of course

That's what i built mine for but I still suck at the weird positions. In the video it has a Rempel bipod for my longrange matches but use a quick detach Harris for PRS.

If they had Comstock stages it would be hard to beat.

Yeah, after thinking about your other posts I get where you are coming from now, unlike yesterday lol. As you said a straight pull super accurate .22 in a 700 footprint would be an awesome rifle.

How about with American barrel's. I remember Matt Emmons rife from a few years back featured a Lilja. I doubt he is the only one. Many American barrel makers make rimfire specific barrels that perform to that level. As another poster noted though, Voodoo uses cut rifled Bartlein barrels. I do not really understand this choice as these do not have the sort of reputation in rimfire circles that many button rifled barrels, often with unusual rimfire specific features like a tapered bore or unusual shape and number of lands, do.

As for the V-22 in the Olympics, it is just not designed for that. The particular design features, stocks, and sights, on Olympic rifles are maximized for just that one application and a lot of money has been spent to make them ideal for it. Really, the intrinsic accuracy characteristics of the action are a pretty small piece of the puzzle. Much more is about the fit between the shooter and the rifle. The Voodoo is a pretty stiff action, and 700 pattern triggers might not be ideal but they win world class BR competions, so they are good enough. Conceivably, it's accuracy would not be that far behind an Olympic 3-position action with the right barrel and smith. It might even be just as good. This would not get you very far though as you would still be lacking both the correct ergonomics (short bolt throw and low bore axis) and the entire ecosystem of stock, sights, etc that matter most to the shooters success. I don't think it would pay in PR for Voodoo, or anybody else, to try to develop all that stuff for a v-22.

This is one of those areas of "conventional wisdom" that I defy (along with PAS is better than SAP, etc) because I've not been able to prove all the anecdotal info is true. We're not using button rifled barrels because they've not passed our test protocols (PROOF and LW are the exceptions). Our own cut rifled barrel, along with others that have passed our test protocols have proven to shoot at an incredible level of accuracy and consistency. Our data and the many test targets from the Lapua test facility is what I'm basing my position on, not regurgitated anecdotal info. If I can find a celebrated button barrel that passes my test protocol, I'll use it, but until then....

The first 500 rounds out of test rifles I build are 100, five shot groups. This group is typical, not cherry picked, within the first few rounds, generally between 30 and 50 and yes, this is the Vudoo (Ace) Cut Rifled Barrel (this one is 22") with my chamber (I built this particular rifle last weekend.). The 10 shot groups are barely larger than this group. No fiddling or anxiety over fitting a barrel, no posts on the internet about how nervous I am to chamber a barrel tomorrow, just put it in the lathe, dial it in, hit cycle start. The exact process in the lab is also used in the production facility in St George.

To take this a bit further, Vudoo held the unofficial internal record at the Lapua test facility for the smallest groups shooting against rifles with taper lapped button barrels. I know the argument most are hanging their hat on is that all the so and so's winning BR matches are using such 'n' such taper lapped button barrel, but, do you know what they say when you ask to see their test data they personally generated when they tested one barrel against the other? The short answer is, the data doesn't exist. Anyone with a strong character could show up at a BR match with a quality cut rifled barrel and do far better than the believers of taper lapped barrels would be willing to believe. As contentious as this debate has been elsewhere, just wait til I start talking about data from other twist rates....

Many posts above have already covered the V-22 as the basis of an Olympic platform....I'll avoid repeating it all over again.

With a centre fire, given the choice who would choose button rifled over cut rifled? As soon as you add in the rimfire component it's like "oh no magic, absolutely no similarities." ?

Read at least three prior posts above....I've already put an Anschutz trigger in a V-22 to develop data and feed a project I'm working on. Again, the current Vudoo V-22 WAS NOT designed to be an Olympic action.

I understand Anschutz triggers can be put on Rem 700 actions, but it’s not very common at all. If it really worked well, everyone would be doing it.

If it wasn't such a huge task to actually do it correctly, everyone would be doing it; it requires a completely new fire control system and if done properly, it works beautifully. My goal in doing so wasn't to prove it'll work, my goal was to design a completely new fire control system that has nothing to do with Remington DNA, nor does it have to be specifically related to just an Anschutz trigger.

It's pretty well known that Briley makes an adapter to put an Anschutz 5018 in a Remington receiver....it doesn't work because there are too many short cuts and failures to properly execute and it's intended for those that could never recognize the "illusion of accomplishment."

First a disclaimer. I do not have an educated trigger finger. However, I am fortunate enough to own several Anschutz rifles as well as several other rifles with Bix'NAndy single stage TacSport Pro triggers. To put my conclusions shortly, if I could replace the Anschutz triggers with Bix'NAndy triggers I would. But what is most important in trigger characteristics is very personal. So go with what floats your boat.
