Preferred optic height-over-bore for bolt gun?

Hello all,

I am new to precision rifles, though not so much to the AR platform/handguns.

Currently I have a Seekins Havak 6.5CM in a KRG Whiskey 3 chassis, and a Leupold MK5 5-25 to go on top.

From my carbine experience, I was pretty well versed in the application and pros & cons to a 1.54, 1.7, 1.93, 2.26 etc sized mount for RDS and LPVO's. I am however unsure of what the preferred height over bore rings/mount to mount on a bolt gun. I was contemplating a Spuhr mount, specifically. I intend to use the gun for PRS matches. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

There is no standard PREFERRED height that applies as a general. Reason being, bolt guns have different barrel contours, different base heights, and some have straight rails like ARs. This means some will require much more height than others before you have clearance.

I would just recommend to run anything so long as there is clearance and most importantly, you are able to get a comfortable and repeatable cheek weld.
