I have seen two different versions of the 5-25x56 scope. I see them listed as 27mil DT and also 28mil DT? Why would there be two different versions? I have seen the box ends that show these numbers.

Also, lots of nice used scopes for sale lately. I know I want the 5-25 version but out of these 3 scopes, Premier, USO, Nightforce, would it be correct in saying the Premier is the tops? I keep reading about the USO glass not being as good?

I want FFP so unless Nightforce comes out with the new F1 soon I guess my choices are Between PH and USO.

Thanks

Re: Premier Heritage scope question

You forgot S&B in that power/price range. I have the P&H 3-15 and if I step up to a 25 power it will be to the S&B or possibly the NF "Beast" when it comes out.

Re: Premier Heritage scope question

There was some confusion as to whether it was a 27 mil or 28 mil knob and depending on where the info was drawn from was what was printed on the label. The correct info is 28 mil DT knob.
I believe we have that problem corrected now.
Thanks,
Paul
PS: If you have any more questions please drop me a PM.

Re: Premier Heritage scope question

I should add that the PH is a great scope in that range and I have no complaints with my 3-15, 22mil single turn. I like trying new gear, which is why I would probably pass on the PH 5-25 unless I got a real good deal on it.

I noticed that:) There are several nice scopes for sale. Just trying to decide if the quality of the PH, USO, SB is that much better than Nightforce F1. Anyone have any idea what the new F1's price tag will be?

I believe its supposed to be around the Hendsoldt.

Re: Premier Heritage scope question

I own a Premier 3-15 and think it's a fantastic scope, but I'd take a look at the features (turret styles, reticles, FOV, mag range, eye relief, length, weight, etc) of any of those brands' models and decide for what best meets MY needs. That's better than asking which is tops. It depends on the individual's requirements.

Re: Premier Heritage scope question

My input about Premier is they are as just as good as S&B but there Reticles are a little behide times I was going to buy a PH for long range shooting. But I like the reticles to range with so here it is there Gen 2 Mil-Dot are old school the Gen 2 XR come on whats with all the ++++++ pluses and if you do like it what about 3,5,and 700 lines Use tick marks with .2 for nice ranging. H-37 to much money Moa/Moa is the best they have going for them but it is not Mil/Mil. Schmidt & Bender all the way I will just name two reticle's H2CMR and MSR if you are into ranging accurately and not guessing.

If Nightforce even comes close to the pricing of Hensoldt they better not plan on selling very many scopes. If they want the new scope to sell they would be better off shooting for the $2500-$3000 range. It is going to be hard to pull people away from S&B, Premier and Hensoldt in the $3000+ market.

The Gen 2 works great in the 3-15. In general terms terms of fit and finish, optics, mechanical features PH is every bit the equal of S&B. I find the XR serviceable in the 5-25. However, I wish they would offer the MSR or like reticle, the Horus is too busy and far too much royalty money.
