President Trump on Suppressors...

Anyone who voted for this guy and still supports him is just one of the countless people conned by the greatest con man the world has ever seen.

either tying to be funny or just confused
you had 2 choices and will have 2 choices real soon
ill take trump again and you take one of the others, 5 years from now well meet and see whos country is doing better
suppressors or not

Interestingly enough, the way it works unfortunately seems to be like this:
When the Democrats have all the power, they get what they want and we get shafted
When the Republicans have all the power, we get shafted and the Democrats get a fair bit of what they want.
If the Republicans have the presidency but the Democrats have the rest, we get shafted and the Democrats get a fair bit of what they want
If the Democrats have the presidency but the Republicans have the rest, we get a decent gridlock and nobody gets anything, but the shafting is usually down to a minimum on both sides.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem in any scenario freedom is advanced or we get what we voted for..

I'll take number four for $2000, Alex...

Oh, wait...

Greg

PS, I think I just made my point...; no reasonably likely political solution even vaguely serves the need...

I could be wrong; wouldn't mind it, actually...

Yet another weakness in the system; the built-in likelihood for creating a minority party government. That's how we got the Clintons.

That's what England had, and now has even more of, when we severed the umbilical with Old Blighty.

How One World-ish that such outcomes can occur to make us even more indistinguishable from the rest of the One World.

If you follow what's happening inside/outside the gaggle of Leftist contenders; Perot's Gambit is going to look very feeble. False flag 'Independent' candidates are the next Democratic Strategy; expect it.

I prefer Heinlein's reasoning on government more than the current flavor of being governed by a supposedly subordinate government that's subordinate in name only. Not completely, not anything completely, but the solution is not about demanding the perfect solution, it's about crafting a better one.

The socialists/communists demand and promise perfection. They can promote the fiction to justify imposing the tyranny. It's tempting, it's palatable for those who suck up the leftist pablum; and all it requires is that everyone behave in accordance with an undivided perfection.

A subordinate government. Whenever my government demands that my judgement about how I live my own life must take a back seat to theirs, that euphemism betrays itself.

My feeble, practically non-existent, ability to change that in a democracy demonstrates that the individual's place in this society is subservient, and that's in directly opposition to The Founders' sentiments.

But that's the reality. Disprove that.

Democracy is blatantly, obviously a failed experiment. I know I keep coming back and sounding like a broken record on this; but really, doesn't it make more sense, more and more each day?
"/snip"

I do not necessarily disagree but the US *is* today a Plutocracy and is owned and operated by a Global Oligarchy.....there is little/nothing Democratic about this Republic. My vote/your vote counts for jack shit and we get a choice between Dumb Fuck Liar Clinton and Billionaire Oligarch Liar Trump. Big deal...this is not Democracy.

But we'll agree for the moment that this experiment of a Democratic Republic has failed as all others in the past have failed.

Now what? Communism apparently always leads to mass murder and Socialism (which is perceived as Communism Lite) destroys Capitalism and leads to System where everyone spends someone else's money while becoming entitled and lazy. Fascism? Nationalism? Tribalism?

Where do we go from here?

Read more Heinlein. Not the answer, but an answer.
A 2 party system is just an illusion of choice. If voting actually mattered, or changed anything, it would be illegal to do so.

I’d agree to a large extent with all the above for the most part. So, where do we go from here? Reset? Does it reset to the same experiment it was 243 years ago or what?

So he doesn’t like them, so what. I’m not gonna take a few sentences out of context. Wake me up when an actual bill hits the floor.

On a side note, there was a nice memo by the associate deputy director of the ATF about the statistics for suppressors being used in crimes being so low that he thinks they should deregulate them because of all the back work they cause at the agency. ?‍♂️

I also read that Trump has a new nominee to head the ATF that has a very shitty record being anti gun so I guess we’ll just have to see. ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️

DSS, the problem, the bill doesn't have to hit the floor, a bill is not even required, they have the administrative state to do their nasty dirty work, there was no bill to ban bump stocks, there is no bill to create the atf. They just use their brown shirts in "Justice" to enforce their unconstitutional edicts. Which is why I hold the beliefs that I do.

Protect and defend your property and your rights with all force needed up to and including the use of deadly force, and bet your life on it or be prepared to be a slave... Fuck them all,

Our government has turned nazi and despotic., the whole thing, elected, appointed of house help in blue.

What the Left doesn't realize is that if they impeach Trump, Pence will become the POTUS.
No, if they impeach Trump, then the Senate will hold a 'trial' and the votes are NOT there to convict and remove him...Trump, with his ego, will not resign just for being impeached...(Similar to Bill Clinton) Yes, it is infuriating Democrats circle the wagons and vote as a block...Republicans seldom do... IMHO putting conservative, strict-constructionist judges on the bench is the best we can hope for...McConnell has been good so far...

This is something I am curious about as well....we keep looking for answers from "Common Sense" and according to a Constitution that was written long ago with no knowledge of the 21st Century. We have an Internet and instantaneous communication ...people can, and are, executing stock trades on their cell phones. Me included. This forum, that forum, Internet Banking, information that travels the globe in seconds...

The answers to current issues lies in the future - not the past. We need to look forward - not back. There is little precedent in history for the current dilemmas. I am convinced that all of the text books we have on economics and what not are obsolete. We can't go back and there is no consensus on where we go from here. Shit *must* change but we all hate our neighbors because they are not like us and we wil not change.

These are indeed the Dark Ages. I have no one to vote for and am convinced my fucking vote means jack shit so why bother? I'm a registered Republican that believes that abortion is murder and that we all deserve Medicare for all. I believe people should work for their desert but am involved in technology/AI/Robotics and have serious bad news for the "if you don't work, you don't get to eat" crowd...you are dooming your children/grandchildren to starvation because in 50 years there won't be *any* jobs that pay a living wage.

It's changing in ways we never saw coming and it will continue to change in ways we can not predict.

So who do I vote for as if it fucking matters? Where do we go from here and please leave science fiction at the door. What the fuck do we do now?

Has to come back to the individual states at some point. You pick the one you like best and live with it. Secession will become an option and the US will wind up like post USSR, but I'm afraid it will have to suffer through the latter first at the rate things are going

Well, there are those that believe, in the not so distant future, you own your own robot and send it to work for you. You have to take those earnings and live off of them and maintain your bot. Others think that you will just get a salary every month while bots do all the work and you do with that what you can and everyone is equal, some crazy utopia of sorts. The truth is, nobody knows but I’m not willing to abandon history and claim it has zero place today either.

What I can tell you without a doubt that the people running the country are not helping anyone but themselves. Gov has failed miserably in commerce, policy, infrastructure, etc. I can go on. In fact, they are failing in almost every facet that they are supposed to be in control of, including immigration. Again, I can go on. I’m taxed at almost 40%, that’s right, damn near half of my income goes to these fuckers and I have no choice in the matter. What do I get out of it? I look around and see failing/crumbling schools, roads that should have been redone decades ago, bridges that are a ticking time bomb, levees that desperately need attention and should have got attention decades ago. I can go on and on and on. Until we clear up the cesspool in DC we cannot move forward, period. I don’t care who is in office. As I said earlier, we need to get back to basics. I have a feeling that there are groups that would have already acted If they could figure out how to take action without any economic disruption. And I must mention that things could always be much worse. If the keg ever blows, then stuff will be bad, really bad until order is restored, if it ever is. It’s a gamble on whether things would be better or worse, but at some point people will be pushed so far that they think they have no choice.

Once the violence starts, it bleeds over into whatever follows. I can't recommend it no matter how good it sounds on the surface.

If we're fighting for the American way, that's not it.

Whatever the answer is, the political system will, by its very nature, opposes and delay it. The Swamp isn't any one thing, it's the whole thing.

Losing patience and taking shortcuts puts the entire future in jeopardy.

Consider that the USA does not live in a vacuum, nor does it live amidst loving and friendly nations. Whatever weakens the structure, regardless of the 'rightness', opens us to foreign intervention (to put it way too nicely).

And that's just one of the potential dangers. How's the prospect of a Civil War sparking a combined USA hating invasion strike us all?

Be careful what you ask for.

You may get it after all...

And more...

I agree with you 100%. In all honesty, it’s a huge gamble and one that we might not like the result of. Anyone that has ever seen the ravages of a war torn country will say exactly what you did. And there would no doubt be some outside influence if it ever came to that, if not a downright invasion while we were fighting amongst ourselves. Trust me we want to avoid that at all cost. However, i also understand that the people will only take so much. That fuse is getting shorter and shorter.

Like I said earlier on in this thread, big gov is doing nothing but helping itself by asking/taking more money cause they never have enough while voting themselves raises and failing at almost every facet that gov should be excelling at. Again, look around and ask yourself where your tax money is going? I see all kinds of infrastructure issues that haven’t been addressed in decades, more like half a century. Most schools around me, other than the few rich cities and counties is over 100 years old, some much older than that. Our education system is failing, roads are falling apart, bridges across the nation are a ticking time bomb, levies are breaking or overflowing and putting large communities/property at risk, failed on immigration, failed on border security, I can go on and on and on. And up until recently, was flailing at global commerce. I’d still say we have a long way to go. I don’t know about you but I’m taxed at almost 40%, that’s almost half of my income I never even see and I can tell you I get very very little out of it. At some point the people will break.

That would involve a lot of pain and suffering for us, but may in the end actually help unite as a country and be rather brutal in reply.
(Like deciding that no foreign fighter that ever set foot in our country will go back home in any way shape or form (including a body bag), or that any country that sent them needs a nuking once we have the rockets working again.)

It is true that in some instances people have to witness the world at its worst before they can take a step back from their evil ways and start treating each other as humans again. Some people need that and sadly that may be what it takes for us to come together. That is what has always made America strong, we unite in times of need. However, that’s still a big gamble. I’m afraid people have become so desensitized to stuff that I’m not even sure that would work. I mean we are talking about a society here that has zero issues ripping live babies apart!! And across the pond they seem to have no qualms about killing their fellow humans no matter how humane they try to argue the method, killing is killing and I have a major problem with any gov that thinks that is ok.

I spent 13 months on my tour of I Corps, RVN; end of '66, and '67 up until November. 11th Engineers, 3MarDiv (Dong Ha and Camp Carroll), and 1st AmTracs, 3Mardiv (Qua Viet).

What I saw there was far worse than just a war zone; it was a war zone where people had actually adapted to life in a place with constant border infiltration by vast numbers who then established a sustained insurgency that lasted from what my Campaign ribbon says started in 1960, and the history books say ended in 1973(?)

Living today in Cochise County AZ, I see the same thing in its beginning stages. My PTSD was limited to sleep issues and nightmares, and we had that solved.

People are dying on both sides of this conflict, which I personally describe as the Phony War; with all its insinuations of WWII prior to the Dunkirk debacle. When the dam breaks, five of my family are in the relative position historically occupied by France. I think I have a genuine stake in all of this.

But the Democratic Party Leadership say there's no emergency. Damn their black, hypocritical souls.

The nightmares are back. I manage, anyway. My VA shrink and I are on it.

I'm in a total quandary, frustration lurks whichever direction I turn.

i will not be part of the problem, and I am constrained from being part of the solution. I'm not crazy yet, but not for the Left's trying.

They want us to toss up our hands and give up.

I just turned 73 last week; and the option may not be available for me too much longer.

All I ask is that if I miss this witches' ball, somebody gets to use my ticket.

Once, when I was in my twenties and recently married, I got a choice between a speeding ticket and a ticket to the policeman's ball.

We went..., and brought friends; we had our own table, and it was FUN!. All our former Adult Scout Leaders were there, too.

Lemons and lemonade.

Buy more ammo.

Well well well.....just got off the phone with the NRA.
I told the lady a mouthful, very respectfully and succinctly. I advised her first that what I was going to tell her needs to be passed to her higher ups. I expressed my disdain for letting the HPA die after Parkland. I also expressed my displeasure at the bump stock horse shit. I expressed my displeasure about their lame excuses about needing money to fight, when I see no evidence that they are fighting.

She wanted me to know that the NRA has my back when the media attacks NRA members. I told her I can defend myself against the media, if they show up at my door. Beyond my door I want the NRA to bring pressure against lawmakers that are doing a half assed job of representing people like me to and you.

I told her I was aware of the media fight they are in right now, and that is Wayne LaPews problem. I let her know I know where my money is going. Mr LePew has his hand in the cookie jar and was caught. I told her till they get their house in order, my money will go elsewhere. I also told her I expect them to get out ahead of this suppressor bullshit. She told me she has no use for a suppressor, but respects my right to own one. I told her that's why I can't buy one in a hardware store, because of people like her who are willing to compromise when the "optics" aren't peachy. I told her I had held my tongue and dropped money in the hat far too long. I told her others like me are waking up and saying no more, and it's high time the NRA realizes folks like me are taking notes. I also told her I have a drawer full of cheap Chicom knives already.

She said she would definitely pass this on to her superiors. Ok....great, I won't hold my breath.

This makes the second time since Parkland I've dressed down a paid NRA fundraiser.

More members need to do exactly that. All the NRA does is pick the low hanging fruit. They lick their lips when anti 2nd legislation is in the news or being passed.

Divide and conquer. That's what we face, and the practitioners are highly accomplished.

Yeah, the NRA is in moral default right now.

But there's more to the NRA than just the figureheads. They wield power and we all know what power's ultimate effects impose on those who wield it. This is a predictable fault. But that is still not a valid justification for condemnation of the other 99.9% of the NRA.

Stay the course. If you feel you can't include the NRA in this, OK.

But don't drop your contributions. Redirect them to one of the other great a supporting organizations.

But then remember, you just got divided.

Who wins then?

Greg

The NRA more often than not seems to act much like our representatives in Congress. They don't care about anyone they are supposed to represent but only care for their own self interests. There are too many McCain/Romney/FSA types working for the organization and too many of them as members. Until a revolt by the membership happens very little to nothing will change. The first problem can and should be dealt with but.... The second problem is the membership, which has so many "who cares as long as I have muh trusty bolt action huntin' rifle so I'm not affected" types that have their head so far up their ass that lump in their throat is their nose (long slow look at you baby boomers) trying to convince them that its only a matter of time before they are affected is harder than pulling teeth.

I'm not sure really what is the answer at this point (maybe all out assault at the HQ by the membership with pitchforks and torches, tar and feather the board, you're first Willies Lee and Exs) or maybe sending money to any and all other legal Pro 2A organizations.
