Price Check On LNIB Swarovski SLC HD 15x56 Binoculars

They would be great for scanning the plains or the other side of a valley that is over a mile or 2 away, But inside of a mile 7 or 8 power will do the deed, 10 power for up to a mile and beyond, Really it all depends on what you are going to do with them, If they are not going to be used a lot and you still want quality then don't forget that Steiner make some nice 15 and 20 power bino's.

But them Swaro's are the Deee Luxe of the Bino World, So good luck with your Quest and I hope you find what you are looking for.

John.

Thanks. I've been swayed to buying these instead of a spotting scope. I would be using them for target shooting and hunting out west.

Cool, then I think you are going to need them, I have about 3 or 4 sets of bino's and 4 spotters and 1 pair of binos get the most attension and they are my Leupold Mk 4's when it comes to spotters I have an old favourite Camo Tasco and the new Leupold GR HD Kit and it drives me nuts knowing which ones to carry, So I think your Idea makes more sense, Yes they might cost a heap more than mine but when you take in to account on what I have spent then we are about equal +/- a few hundred bucks, I say go for it.

John.

They're on sale for $1999 new right now. You'd have a hard time finding them for less than $1800 used. I was lucky and found a pair for a bit less. Make sure you're looking at the current version since there are a lot of prior generations out there.

They are stunning. Yes, they are a viable alternative to a spotting scope unless you need that last bit of magnification for fine detail review. I use them for shooting/spotting impacts out past 1k. Just need to get them on a stable tripod and they really shine.

Thanks for the info Sheldon.

Yeah, I was going to mention. We have a thread a few posts down on Swaro vs Vortex and Sheldon has some very good hands on review. I've been looking too and hard to find anything less than $1800

Thanks, that thread is what got me looking at these binos. Trying to figure out at what price point I should snatch a pair up at.

So - Heads up - there are, I believe, two versions of these. About 18 months ago, Swaro updated the model and the new ones have nicer coatings than the old version. I have used both, and much preferred the newer ones. We use these a lot at the range to spot impacts on steel out to 600 yards with very little problem. Comfortable to use, fast to deploy and clear. For some of our spotters, they will choose to use these vs a spotting scope!

For use with a stand, we use these with good effect: https://outdoorsmans.com/products/outdoorsmans-binocular-adapter?variant=2834104513

Thanks for the heads up. Anyway to discern the updated models with the nicer coatings?
that adapter is a better price than the one I was looking at, thanks for link.

Yes, my comments have been about the new "HD" models which are nicer than the prior model. The new model is 58291 and they changed more than just coatings, I believe there is a new prism inside as well. The prior model was the 58191 aka 15x56 NEU and it has a black hinge. Here's a comparison review.

The ones before the NEU were all green (a bit more olive color) and have a squarish looking hinge.

I've got an Outdoorsmans tripod mount on order also, have been using a cheap Vortex adapter but it's a little "springy" and allows for vibration when bumped. We'll see if the Outdoorsmans is better in that regard. You also need to order a mounting stud that attaches to the binocular, in addition to the stand. I got the "tall" model at the recommendation of Outdoorsmans.

Got the Outdoorsmans today. Yep, it's a worthwhile improvement over the Vortex adapter. Stays locked down better, has the quick detach option, and is less prone to vibration with my 15x56.
