I just recently purchased both a Vortex 1-8x and the PA 1-8x SFP for comparison since they are essentially identical in price. I received both and i honestly cant tell the difference in eye relief, glass clarity etc. The Vortex "feels" nicer in the hand but that is subjective. The biggest gripe is the illumination knob on the Vortex is a bitch to turn and with PA it rows thru the numbers easy. I do love the reticle on the PA by far. I so wish Vortex could arrange to have same reticle.

Biggest question is has anyone seen or compared the Platinum $1200 version to the $400 one? I know its hard to say hey it has better glass etc but is it worth 3 times by same manufacturer? Would love to hear more first world encounter about the Platinum since by the time we are getting to $1200+ we have a lot of other players. The issue i have is with most other $1000+ 1-8x scopes there are other issues that makes me stay away. Either they are too heavy, illumination is not bright day time, the reticle is useless ( I think IMHO a 1-8x scope should have a fast CQB style reticle) or other issues that have made me not pull the trigger.

The are far different in quality. Like most brands we have several tiers of quality. Also FFP vs SFP. We do have a FFP lower tier coming out soon with our new Raptor reticle. Info in this thread,

1-6X FFP with Raptor reticle

Thanks for the info. Was is PA's warranty with the SFP and FFP scopes? I was on the website and couldnt find it. I had read in some sites that it has been changed recently similar to Vortex but not sure wanted to hear it from the man.
