Going through some of my cleaned brass i have noticed a few the primer hole is not centered in the pocket. Is this a common issue? It is Lake City Brass.
They all have been onced fired so it obviously works but does it affect accuracy or consistency? Would it be worth reaming the holes to center them or would enlarging the hole be dangerous? I was thinking of grinding a tool to fit the primer pocket with a small drill head tip to true them up but didnt know what a larger hole would do. I am new to reloading and learning from reading other posts here.

I had some Remington brass that had that issue... holes were WAY off center. I loaded some "blasting fodder" in those thinking they'd have ignition issues, but ended up shooting some of the best groups with it that particular rifle ever shot.

So as strange as it may sound, it's probably fine.

I notice it on my mil surp brass. Seems to shoot fine, what surprises me is that it looks way off but still the decap pin finds it no problem. Perhaps the "way off" look is some sort of an optical illusion because the mechanical check of the decap pin seems to indicate otherwise.

Sinclair sell a primer hole uniformer you could try if you suspect something is amiss with your results or it just really chaps your ass.

If it really does chap your ass from the description of Norma brass (drilled ignition holes rather than punched) you might find satisfaction with them.

I think that things like this are just an issue with those that are trying for perfection, even with things that don't matter.

Even if that hole is slightly off center what is that supposed to cause? Is every granule of powder in the case perfectly aligned with each load?

FWIW, I have seen numerous cases that the flash hole just looks off center due to the rest of the primer pocket being slightly deformed by the punch. They were in the bottom of a slightly irregular "dish" in the bottom of the primer pocket and the appearance was accented by the uniforming tool.

I have seen some flash holes that were way off with PMC and a few LC, but possibly the reason the flash hole looks off center on the LC brass is because the crimp is not centered to the primer pocket. I have noticed this on some late model LC 5.56 brass.

Oh goodness, throw it out, that stuff is dangerous! It will shoot in circles and may hit you in the back of the head.
