What's up everyone, I have just recently started posting on this forum and I have a question for you long range (900-1000 yards) guys. I am looking to put a load together with the following for my new rifle:

175 gr SMK
H4895
Lapua Brass

My question is, I do not really have CCI BR2 or Fed 210M available to me, so what are your most preferred options for best accuracy for 800-1000 yards. Fed 210, CCI 250, and Winchester LR primers are easiest to obtain.

Rifle Specs are as follows:

Rem 700 SPS Varmint Barreled Action 1:12'' Twist 26'' Barrel
Bell & Carlson M40 Style Stock

Tula primers are what I stock up on, they are a cunt hair bigger and fit better when the pockets start to loosen compared to Winchester primers.

I'm in the same boat as the OP; do you think WLR primers on 1-2x fired brass would fit and then switch to Fed/CCI/Tula as the primer pockets expand? WLR was all I could find locally at a "reasonable" price.

I've always liked CCI. Right now, just work up a load with whatever you can find, and roll with it. Back when Precision Shooting Magazine was in business, and posted match results, Fed Match was listed more than most, then a scattering of other brands. Good Luck finding any of them, right now! Hondo, yes that would work. I have a lot of ammo for my 308AR that was loaded with Winchester primers and by the 3rd load I could feel the Winchester primers just slipping in without much effort so I switched to Tulas and now fit really snug. This was with both fed and win brass, no change in poi or dope out to 600yds in the AR.

bcrich, thanks for the confirmation. I've got 1k of them, and will have 400 pcs of SSA 260 brass to reload. I'm hoping to get at least 2x firings, maybe 3x on some and pick up some different primers in the meantime. Thanks for the reply!

i will only add this . I use cci prmers almost exclusively. Recently I had a deal on another brand. I immediately thought that many of my brass were done due to loose primer pockets. I started tossing them. I then thought there is no way these are bad after only 3 firings. I looked at everything.
CCI Primers are slightly larger than others. Atleast in my batch. I bought more cci and they feel tight again and seat with same pressure as originally used.
I now pay alot more attention to what brass had what primer.
good luck
