hopefully they start making their way up to Canada...frickYes, I convened with the inner council and we have decided that primers have been generally available for some time now, you just have to be willing to pay for them

Anybody have any insider knowledge on when and if we are ever going to see primers again. It seems like powder and other components are slowly getting more available but primers not so much
Long gone are the good ole days.I can find primers all day long. Gotta pay to play
Oh, you mean primers for $35 per thousand?

THE ONLY people I find with primers in stock are selling them cheap and are FRAUDS.
The pages at Midway and Midsouth are COVERED with UNAVAILABLE, OUT OF STOCK, etc.
Concur. Seems the only sites stocking lots of primers, cheap no less, are SCAMMERS. (If they don't take credit cards, stay away, folks).Anybody have any insider knowledge on when and if we are ever going to see primers again. Thanks your reply! I'm an old coot, not too tech savvy, but guess I'm going to have to invest in frequent visits to my computer or phone. THAT was the same with the powder at first. It should be criminal to have to fuss with all this when simply learning how to best use my Strelok Pro for multiple rifles without confusing data is enough fun!Have to check daily or several times a day even, when primers are in stock they move fast. There have been no sign yet of the inventory increasing and no signs at all of any prices dropping under $95/1,000 which seems to be what Brownells charges at the low end but with a limit of 2,000.
Did everyone see your post and clean LGS out before I got online tonight? ALL I see is the dreaded OUT OF STOCK for almost all primers. My LGS here in central La has been gradually getting more and more primers and powder in stock. They have pretty much all the standard CCi primers in stock rt now for 90$ a thousand.
I don't know WTF LGS you checked on. My LGS is my Local Gun Store.Did everyone see your post and clean LGS out before I got online tonight? ALL I see is the dreaded OUT OF STOCK for almost all primers.
Thanks anyway. Might try their standby service.

That’s cute.I see them every day - 18k sitting on my shelf.
So I just picked up a 300 win mag to hunt with next year and magnum primers around here are basically the Holy grail. Has anyone used standard large rifle in a 300 win mag to reasonable results? Just trying to get a few rounds spun up and tested for hunting season.
I guess I'll load a couple up and give it a try. Thank you.Standard primers work well with most stick powders in the 300wm. You might not get the same accuracy. You might get better ES. It just depends.

The reloading Bible says stack ‘em deep.same... im around 100k of primers right now.. last count was just over
The reloading Bible says stack ‘em deep.
My problem, when I buy more primers, I immediately run the math and say, well I just bought 2k more SRP, so I need 2k more 77 gr freedom seeds, and 8 more pounds of gold dust to even out the usable component inventory.
The cycle never ends.
How dare you question the free market capitalist reloading supply industry.I have been monitoring threads and articles since 2020 regarding the primer and powder shortages. While I appreciate all the companies that manufacture components for this great art/hobby of handloading, I am disappointed that they have not provided more frequent updates (if any) to their customers.
Early editorials covered the increase to $60/1000 for primers; labeling sellers as 'brazen scalpers' doubling prices and even worse on sites like GunBroker. Now at $100/1000 or more, are the manufacturers or retailers now the 'scalpers'? Or is there another reason such as component price increases or workforce shortages? Perhaps inflation has contributed somewhat to the price increase; but at a rate of 400% over the last few years? I think not, but I don't know because the manufacturers aren't communicating with their customers.
I am not uninformed regarding the effects of supply and demand, so my diatribe above is somewhat tounge in cheek, but I still think the industry owes their customer base some direct answers. Months went by when several major retailers received ZERO supply, by their own admission, yet powder and primer companies claimed they were manufacturing a maximum capacity and still shipping. The products 'must have just been sold out'. This is not possible with in-stock alerts even if one doesn't make it to the website in time to purchase.
With thousands of members here at SH, I am wondering if someone out there has close ties with either powder or primer companies that can offer some perspective. Or, at a minimum, let their companies know that there are quite a few consumers out here that are unhappy with the lack of transparency and communication.
