I agree, it’s kind of sad to see. After watching ”The Crown” on Netflix, I do have a lot respect for the queen, she’s had quite a life. After her it will be Chuckmilla in ”charge”. As ”The Crown” depicts, as reining monarch, you are not really in charge the way most people think you are in charge. It’s more like the crown and tradition are in charge of you. You’re just the figure head and a bigger cog in the wheel of the machine than most people.

Philip was a great-great-grandson of Queen Victoria, as Elizabeth is the great-great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria. (Yes, they are cousins.)

Queen Victoria was the grand-daughter of King George III.

So Prince Phillip was is as equally related to King George as is Queen Elizabeth and both are direct decedents of the person to whom the Declaration of Independence was addressed to.

I agree with you there. Its your country not mine. Ribbing aside, it is a day of national mourning for a country that has in spite our turbulent past shared blood on the field together on numerous occasions.

Likely no one has more pride in the founding of America than I. Yet in my darkest moments I yern to return to the tax rates that King George III imposed on us, for they are perhaps 1% of the taxes that our elected leaders force upon us. While Brit royalty is of no particular import to me, it is still only fair to note that like us they had a greatest generation, the Prince consort and the Queen earned their membership in that. I'll offer my respect as they pass.

We need term limits as instead of having one king or queen we have a bunch of people acting like kings and queens, or at least what people think kings and queens act like. Don’t forget, in Britain, Parliament runs the country and makes laws, the king and queen do not dictate them and the PM is elected by the people.

Sadly, I think Elizabeth won't make it much longer. Losing her soul-mate of almost 70 years will be hard on her for sure.

I thought they both exuded class and decorum. They have steered the UK (with a feather-touch) through some amazing history. More importantly, they have created the greatest tourist 'industry' in the UK... which is the monarchy itself.

Sadly, they will be followed by Big-Ears and Horse Face, two spoiled, disgusting wokies who are going to lecture us on carbon while driving Aston Martin's around. Instead of maintaining the regal disconnected 'feather touch' of the modern monarchy. Charles (and his pedo brother) long ago hitched their carriages to the Davos set and will sell out England faster than Edward would have handed things over to Hitler. Pathetic little twerps.

But I mourn Philip. A serious naval officer. A gentleman at every level. And, eventually, Elizabeth. Who served in WW2 as a mechanic and maintained her own Land Rovers into the 1980's... because she simply enjoys working on trucks.

A sad day for England. They are no longer our masters. Which makes our respect for their fallen royal consort, IMHO, more meaningful.
