I went to town and picked up a new rig today, my fiance kept telling me she wanted her own gun to shoot. So with the economy the way it is, and not being sure she would keep alot of intrest I opted to get her a colt .22 AR. I must admit that its quite the shooter with the iron sights and so is she. Anyhow I wanted to take the the rear sight off and mount some glass on it for her, I took the glass off one of my ar builds and mounted it on the .22 after removing the rear sight, Looked through it and had no trouble even though the front a2 sight was clearly high enough to be in the way. I went from 3x all the way to 12x and never could see the front sight post. So here is the question, Am I going to see it if I put a 1x-4x on it? I remember reading somewhere that on low powered glass you might see the end of the barrel, but didnt know if it would be the same with an a2 front sight.

With a SWFA SS 1-4x24 HD I can see the end of my FF rail and folded down front BUIS below about 1.5-2X. You will see the FSB.

1-4 is a great option, you should be fine with the front sight base being in view, maybe even be able to cowitness the two at low power.

While that would be fine for me, to have it cowitness or be in view for her is not an option being as it is "her" gun . A 3-9 or a fixed 4x might be the ticket. For her I suppose.

I have a buddy who bought a 1-4 millet scope , he complained about a "bullet" shaped object that was only visible at the lowest power. After sending it back twice they gave him a new scope. He had me mount it and after I gave it to him once again he complained about the image at low power and his heart sank. I looked through the optic and about laughed my ass off, the tip of the barrel was just barely visible at the lowest power setting due to the cant of the 20 moa base!!! The look on his face was priceless once I explained issue! I felt bad for millet, they bent over backwards to take care of his"faulty scope"!!!
