Production Dates on older Remmy 700s

Can anyone help me determine the production date on older Remington 700 I picked up today? Quick descripition, no letter suffix before the serial number, blued receiver and barrel, 22 inch barrel, stock is high gloss finish. No black tip, weave pattern on sides, bottom, palm swell area and the left side of the receiver has a peep sight mounting position. It in .308 Winchester, nice..... Its a beautiful rifle. Please help..

Remington stamped a date code on the left side of the barrel near the action, it will be a couple of letters. There is an online source for the answer to the code, just google "Remington date codes" and see what you get. Rifle should be pre Nov 1968 if it is a six digit, then after that they used seven digits without a letter prefix until some time in the early/mid 70's.

Thanks guys found it, rifle was manufactured in Jan. 1972. Can't wait to shoot it.
