Does a factory barreled action in an aftermarket chassis disqualify me from production division?

The rule states that anything that doesn't significantly increase the performance of the rifle is good to go:

"equipment that can be mounted to or added to your rifle that doesn’t significantly
increase accuracy will be considered accessories and will not be regulated."

I have a factory Tikka T3X CTR 6.5 Creed barreled action in a KRG WHISKEY 3. Factory trigger, AICS mag , Area 419 20moa scope base.

I pulled the barreled action from a new CTR that was $998. But the $ value of barrel and action obviously doesn't = the cost of the total purchase.

The KRG chassis was $899.

Your current configuration would put you in Open. You can't replace the stock with an aftermarket chassis. Reference rule 2.3.2 in the PRS Rulebook (emphasis mine):

2.3.2 Rifle: For the purpose of the Production Division, a rifle is defined as the original manufacturers configuration of a complete firearm which will be comprised of at least but not limited to the following: stock with bottom metal or chassis, a complete action, a barrel and a trigger mechanism.

ClangClang hit the nail on the head. The rifle pretty much has to stay "stock" with the exception of things like muzzle brake, optics and mounts, and other add on accessories (tripod and mount, bubble level, etc).

AFAIK know and could read into the rules the action, barrel, trigger, and stock all have to remain the same way it comes from the factory. You can replace the barrel with another barrel from the factory, but everything has to remain the same as it comes.

They used to have a list of approved production class rifles, but now it's just anything with an MSRP of under $2000. Same for the optics, as long as the factory MSRP is under $2000, you can use it.

There are quite a few rifles that will run in the production class. ruger precision rifles, most of the Tikka rifles, remington, and now some of the custom makers have been producing rifles that will barely squeeze into the $2000 MSRP category.

I put money down on a PVA John Hancock as I figured I can shoot it as is (with a KRG Bravo chassis) and then if I don't shoot production or just use it for other activities, I"m just a chassis away from having a full custom rifle set up the way I want it. Or maybe I"ll like the Bravo and just leave it as is. MPA has a rifle that uses their nicer chassis but uses a remington 700 action (not necessarily a bad thing), and Bad Rock rifles is doing something similar.

I had been looking hard for a Tikka T3x Tac A1 in 6.5 but decided to go with the PVA JH instead. I probably won't see it till mid year, but that'll be fine with me. I went with a Burris XTR II scope and will more than likely get the ARC rings, magazines and PVA Jet blast brake.
