Prometheus scale

I just bought a Prometheus scale. I think it might need a few things. Looks like it has the electronic control system on it. How do I contact Brand Cole and will he still sell replacement parts for them or a manual?

Search on his name, I think someone posted his contact info. Brand's a busy guy, but he might be willing to refurb your P1 for a reasonable charge.

Call Brand: (425) 239-9100. The beam needle should not be bent like that. You also seem to be missing some parts on the weighing tray and stopper ball mechanism. Also, there should be a leaf spring on a magnet for the rear of the beam.

the needle is bent, your missing poises, stopper ball, funnels, dispenser plug, maginfying glass, the wire that contnects the powder throw to the machine, storage case, and I bet since the needle is bent the knife edges are screwed up on the beam arm from not locking it in place during tranportation, these machines need to be treated like fragile works of art, not like tools.

There should have been a "manual" with the Pro. Its not a real book or anything, but a photocopy of the instructions, etc that Brand put together to go with the Pro. You are missing a lot of parts there. The good news is that Brand can probably fix everything there, you just need to call him and get on the list.

I have the back of the battery box cover& powder funnels. The things I noticed there were missing were the powder deflector and the pin that goes on the powder dump to the lift arm & the magnifying glass. If Brand could work it over for me I would be a happy camper.

What kind of scale do you guys use to set the charge weight of the Prometheus before loading?

once you have everything, zero out the scale, run it a couple times to ensure return to zero, 42.5 load for instance, slide main poise to 40 + 1 detent, ensure its seated, 1.0 poise in the aft hole or zero hole, and the .1 pose away from you 5 places from the zero hole, go to town, set the throw to throw low and trickle up. Last night I was playing with mine, with practice I think I can load a csae with powder every 20 seconds maybe 15 seconds.

I've been the caretaker of 0009 for many years. It is a lovely piece of work and I considered it to produce in the neighborhood of 300 exceptional loads per hour.

Several modifications were made to mine to better fit my use. A mercury switch was affixed to the powder drum to fire a very small eccentric (pager) motor on the loading funnel to eliminate bridging on the dump cycle and one of the two tricklers used was converted to run off the same DC power pack (potentiometer to adjust voltage for trickler speed) that ran the vibrating pager motor. With the pager setup in use, a seperate plate was made to fit under the measure to prevent any vibration of the measure itself while in dump mode.

I don't recall ever using it with smaller grain powder, as I was mainly loading N-165 and MR-3100 for 6.5X.284 and 22-250 with heavy bullets.

stick it to the base plate so that the wire contacts the balamce beam on its downward cycle about .750 from the end where the dampening magnets are.

it was part of the electrionics package to shorten cycle time.

I got the electronics package on mine, I get the impression the two previous owners didn't use the ECS, there both local CKA and Scooty Puff, I'm going to talk to Brand about it, getting the on the Gen 2 list and a couple other little secret things he has.

it doens't have any effect on function or accuracy, just shortens cycle time by reducing the downward arc of the beam. Get on the list, the only time you see a gen I for sale is a week or two after the owner receives their gen II.
