I am in the process of working on a build using a Proof Research barrel in .308 and looking for some opinions on barrel length. I plan on using this for general long range shooting and the occasional (hopefully frequent) PRS style match in the Tactical Division. Looking at lengths between 20: and 24". What are your opinions?

I have an FN SPR with a 24" barrel that is a great rifle, and cutting some weight using a nicer Manners Stock and Proof barrel should make it a little simpler to maneuver with, but what do you think is the best overall compromise on muzzle velocity, accuracy and maneuverability? I am currently thinking 22". Thoughts...??

I don't think the 24" barrel would hinder me in any way as it is what im used to from running my SPR.

Is there enough of a velocity difference between 22" and 24" that it would be detrimental? More so curious. About to pull the trigger on the build and want to make sure I go with the best possible option. I wont be a serious competitor or contender most likely as I am military and frequently deployed, so its more to continue to hone my skillset and train.

I just bought a Barrett MRAD 300 win mag with a 24" carbon fiber barrel from proof research and it is awesome, the rifle is lighter and it looks bad ass.

I decided to go with the 24" Proof barrel with the Area 419 Hellfire Brake. Im hoping the combination works well. Ill post some pictures of the build once I get it in hand. I will have to get back from this deployment first, but Ill try to remember.
