Has anyone bought and used the prefits directly from proof? I get a great price on them from Expert Voice and would love to run them. Anyone run the 6 Dasher specifically? Understand they use a .125 FB. How did it do for you and what brass were you using?

Save your time (and frustration) and get a good prefit from Bugholes/SAC/LRI/HH/Altus/MH based off a bartlien or HH blank.
I shoot proof prefits for practice barrels and they are hit and miss. They have way too high of a failure rate on their blanks alone. Add in their chambering and its like rolling the dice. I do have a decent altus chambered proof barrel, but it doesnt touch my Bartliens or HH's.
Some people will swear by them but there is a reason most of the top shooters don't mess that with that. Alot of us can get $350-400 proof prefits delivered, yet we still drop $7-800 on the above. We can go through ALOT of barrels each season, yet still are willing to pay twice as much. This is a hint.

Not shooting a dasher but a 6GT .120 FB from PVA and it shoots fantastic (.2-.3's). Also have 308 from Preferred Barrels and have been very happy with it .... excellent workmanship and quality and it groups very well.

There are plenty of people here who have had great experiences with proof prefits. I know mine is extremely accurate and wouldn't hesitate for a instant to buy another if I was looking.

There are people who shoot and those who don't.
When you use a top blank from a top smith you have a 99.99% chance it will shoot very very well. Maybe not world record BR level, but for practical/prs/LR shooting. Yes.
There are smith's who will not touch a proof blank due to the product being so inconsident.
You will find a bunch of people who have been burned by PVA, PBB, Proof and the rest of the budget outfits. There is a reason they cost what they Do. You are getting a lesssor product with a much higher failure rate.
When I order a barrel from HH or Stuetesville or SAC.....I know it will shoot, becuase everyone I have ever owned has, all the ones my buddies have burned up shot and fellow competitive shooters I talk to report the same thing.
This is why we spend $7-800 on a barrel and not hundreds less on junk. We don't have the time to play the barrel lottery like many of you who don't really shoot much can afford to.

There are smith's who won't use Bartlein barrels or 5r rifling or any number of other options.
You are free to shoot whatever you want. We have choices. There are plenty of us who do just fine with proof barrels.
Just put me down as a non-shooter that has a few thousand rounds thru 5 different Proof Research barrels and no issues.
I'm not brand loyal and have several other makes as well, but have had no issues with proof.

Opened up a can of worms here I see. I think I'm going to order 2 of them and just see for myself. If they hammer, awesome. If not, I'll burn them down as practice barrels and then send them back to Proof. A lot like that steak I ate most of that was supposed to be cooked rare just to get my money back.

Name the smith who won't use bartlien due to quality issues. We can wait...unless you are speaking out of your ass.
A few thousand rounds.... lol...many of us are going through 10-30k a year, burn up more barrels in a year than you will ever own. It sure would be nice to save 2-3k a year in barrel costs by going to proof. Too bad they suck balls.
Small sample sizes are like small dicks. You don't know how small your cock is becuase you never seen a real hog.
TacOps won't use Bartlein, Only krieger unless something has changed recently. But what would he know about accuracy and consistency.
I'm not into dick measuring. Just pointing out that there is no end all be all barrels. Lots of options.

So that's a 33% failure rate for me. Doesn't mean AI's shit, but a 2 out of 6 of the Accuracy International rifles I bought needed to go back. I'm not going to bash AI and say they are shit, just luck of the draw.

AI are less reliable than most properly made custom rifles. Seen a ton of them go down over the years and my buddies brand new at-x would barley feed at a match last weekend when we got dumped on. Not a great example. Unless you are a gov/institution, I think they a terrible buys.
Not everyone on here is a gamer, nor looking for a competition rifle. I've also had a 100% failure rate on my GAP rifle, trigger was so bad it would fire when you took the safety off. Made it thru QC though.
I have a 6 dasher proof prefit on a tl3. Shoots fantastic. Easy to clean and easy to do load development on. This is a great barrel.
I currently own 5 proof barrels. They all shoot good groups, but as mentioned they are not all perfect. The current 6 creed barrel for my Terminus Zues was not a great barrel but still grouped well. I've burned up 6 of the 6 creed barrels and most have been easy to find a good load for and easy to live with, however this last one was not.
I started using Proof because of the price, but as they continue increasing their prices they are starting to close the gap on higher quality options. I have already started moving to other brands because I can get what I want for not much more money.
I run bugholes bartlien barrels for my 6gt its my comp caliber. There barrels shoot. Im a huge fan. I did get a proof prefit stainless in 223 and it shoots well for what its worth...
I built my first rifle and put a 24” Proof prefit on a Terminous Kratos action, trigger tech trigger, AG Composite K2 that is now Bedded, Trijicon Tenmile 3-18. Chambered in 7MM PRC.
I have 1 or 2 groups just under a inch after 40 rounds. Using Hornady 175 ELDx factory ammo.
My friend built the same action at the same time with a Bartlein barrel 3b profile, all way under an inch in 300 PRC. From SPR. He just ordered the same thing for 7mm PRC from them. So when he gets that will see.
He moved his Nightforce off his (rings and scope). He is shooting it today so I will see if that was the problem.
Right now not a fan of my proof prefit. My Springfield armory Waypoint 6.5prc is under an inch , .38” with a few. .75” easy… same scope setup…….
Same time I shot my Sako 270 and tika t3x 7mm-08 with my hand loads…. .38” group with Sako… tika .75”.
So it’s not me.
