Rifle Scopes Proper ring spacing?

How far are rings supposed to be apart?
If a rail has the little overhang part, how much should remain out? or can you mount the ring to the end of the rail without any problems?

Any pics of places I can see proper spacing?

There really isn't a rule as to how far apart the rings should be, everyone has a different method and places at different points on the rail. Generally, I try to get the rings as far apart as possible while still being able to get the proper eye relief.

Would there be any problem with the ring mounted at the most forward point of the rail?

Probably not, as long as it still allows you to get the scope far enough to the rear to get proper eye relief you'll be fine.
