Pros and Cons of Fixed and Carbine Chassis Buttstocks

I'm looking at buying a chassis. However, the area that I'm currently overwhelmed with are the buttstock options available. I only have experience with a non-adjustable stock so all the adjustments available are unknown to me as to their value, necessity, or limitations. Regardless, both the fixed and carbine buttstocks have the same adjustment features available for the most part so I don't quite understand the benefit to one or the other.

Why would a person choose one over the other?

My biggest deciding factor would be a preference for fast adjustable LOP (carbine) vs stability/bag rider (better with fixed).

The best compromise I've used is the Magpul ACS-L. The LuthAR stock and unreleased B5 DMR stock look fair, though.

Yes, buffer tube style. I have just been looking at the MDT chassis so have their terminology on my mind.

The only thing that I can suggest is to pay attention to the chassis details. The Standard length rear rifle stock on this MDT chassis cost 100.00 less than the short rifle stock. If your in a hurry and trying to save money you may miss that. If you get the standard length, you probably wont be able to reduce your LOP enough. You also need to watch the channel width. I nearly missed that when I was putting my Vudoo together. The MDT also has lots of accessories. Bag riders, weights. I would look at the MDT just to get used to some of the details that you will need to be aware of. Think of it as practice.

Can LOP be too short? I feel like my scope shouldn't move any further forward already and the LOP on my current stock is 14.25. I feel kind of like a brontosaurus.

I just meant that the details can bite ya.
I like to adjust my LOP to be about 13.5" for me to get the trigger position that I want.
The short fixed stock has LOP of 12.5"/13.5" cost me 100.00 more. Why, I don't know.
The standard fixed stock has a LOP of 13.5"/14.5"

So If I got the standard stock at it's fully compressed length, it will be 13.5" So if I wanted to go shorter, I cant.
If I wanted to add a butt stock weight I cant because the LOP will be too long for me. If I want to add a folding feature I cant do that because that adds about an inch and a half.

I'm not pushing MDT or anyone else but just wanted you to be aware of some of the details and options you have and how they interrelate. If I could do it all over again, having seen the other chassis, I would do the MDT again. It simply suits me.

Some folks have had a good idea regarding the MDT ACC chassis. The ACC was too long for my liking but they have cut the ACC down in length by a couple m-loc slots. I thought that was a simple solution to the disproportionately long chassis for the Vudoo. I believe the maximum bbl. length for the V22 is 22"
