So I just found out that my younger daughter was selected by all her classmates to represent their school and lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They were asked to choose the two students who best represent the values of the school and the country.
Her older sister was also given this honor with her class three years ago.
They attend a small private school here in our town and are well versed in our countries history and form of government. We have luckily been able to keep them out of the socialist indoctrination centers since kindergarten. They take the honor very seriously and respect what it means to be given the responsibility to walk down in front of that hallowed ground.

I was privileged to attend the interment of an old friend at Arlington a couple years back Casons, 21 gun salute, the whole ceremony. Afterwards we did the tour of the cemetery and saw the grave of damn near every famous soldier we all admire. We watched the changing of the guard and the retirement of one of the guards. Very humbling experience.

Im sure youll be there to watch your daughter. Despite being the swamp, there is more to do and see in DC than youll have time for. One thing Id recommend is the National Cathedral. Last Gothic Cathedral that well ever be built. It sits on a hill and you can see all of the city from there.

I will certainly post pictures. They are scheduled for the first week of October.
I have been to DC quite a bit, but never much time for sightseeing. I’m usually flying in late in the evening and leaving the next afternoon, so I’m looking forward to being able to get out and about.

Its a pretty solemn time, I dont remember any one taking videos. I do remember one fucktard started talking and the guard stopped in his tracks and told him in no uncertain terms to be quiet.

This is a special thing y’all will be doing. I highly recommend the Holocaust Museum. I knew that time period in history was bad, but this really shows how bad things were, and how the sacrifice and bravery of America soldiers literally saved the world. It is such and amazing place. Amazing and humbling at the same time.

I just got home from DC and the experience at Arlington was amazing. My daughter and her classmates did a great job. The ceremony was awesome and moving. It had the added impact of a two ship Marine Osprey flyover and a 21 gun salute as the trumpeter finished Taps echo up the hill.
My wife and I spent most of the day there. We were privileged to see two funeral ceremonies, one of which had the full Army band and horse drawn caisson for the casket and a rifle team guard.
