Any of you guys shot one of the ptr clones. Ive wanted one since i was 14. Was looking at the new hk version but they are $1300 more. And you can get a folding stabilizer and threaded barrel with the ptr. In the past i read mixed reviews on th hk 91 clones. But supposedly they uped their qc on these.

I don't own either but have done a fair amount of research as I was interested in one for awhile as well. PTR and Zenith are both solid clones and have been getting good reviews. I was leaning a little more towards the Zenith when I was looking - seemed to have been out a little longer and had a pretty good track record at the time.

Any ideas on how big a bullet these can hand 147 etc will it do +p. How do they handle sub sonic loads.

Most research i found says the effective range of a mp5 on a human size target is 200 yards. I would be ecstatic with that. But good with anything over 100 I will run a aimpoint or maybe a acog or lower power type tac scope. Like a small nightforce. i know this is not a precision long range rifle. It fills a need i have. I have a progressive press set up soley for 9mm. I got a cool little range and am building a shoot house. This would allow me to work on cqb stuff with less time loading changing conversions and cheaper than 5.56. And one badass truck gun.

My Zenith has been incredible. Works on everything from light USPSA loads that will choke a factory glock to +P SD ammunition. Recoil is also far better than a conventional blowback and it runs cleaner. I just wish the MP5 manual of arms was a little better.

Real HK trilug accessories and the HK QD claw mount also fit perfectly.

Not much of a hk fan but i got to finger one the other day as ptr is in my backyard. It handles good like the hk version. And with the new owners the qc is alot better than previous. Auctually looking to purchacing one mainly for a plinker. And with enough rounds through it a bedside for my wife

Had a PTR 9CT for a very short time. Way, way, way back years ago I had a HK 94 and apparently my memories of it are better than reality. I did shoot a good bit of Federal 147gr AE through it with my AAC TiRant9M. I ended up selling the 9CT as my CZ Scorpion was just fine for my needs and also I decided I'd rather have the cost of the PTR towards a new rifle instead.

I got my 9CT for Christmas and got it out twice so far and I’ve very pleased. I wasn’t a fan of the narrow mlok handguard so I swapped it out for a standard wide handguard. The navy style grip frame was fine and all but I I switched that with a countoured SEF frame. I have a little north of 500 through it, mostly 124gr fed from German factory HK mags. Some purists don’t like the rail, and while I don’t plan on using an optic, you don’t notice the rail once you line up the irons. Mine was shooting a little high out of the box but with the included sight tool, I had it dialed in quickly.

This is now my number three choice in the stable, behind my Scar 17 and the Tavor.

Dakota tacticals are fantastic but I but more pricey than most. PTR has been hit and miss. If you want top of the line the next best thing you can get without spending money on a German HK (Or Dakota tactical) would be a zenith. I just found one for a buddy, Zenith ZR5S with an funding SB brace for $1700 on guns America.

I’ve had mine for a while now and Put it on Form 1 SBR. It has handled 165 grains like a champ. No issues with it.

A friend of mine has two zenith MP5 clones and they run every kind of ammo we put through, I have a PTR 91 since 2004 but that is not quite the same.
Cheers

They seem to hold their value. The Zeniths I have seen for sale recently sold for more than the last import wave did at retail. Not a lot of firearms doing that right now.

Get em while you can... this last shipment is almost sold out and who knows how long (years) the next one could take. Add in stability issues in Turkey and who knows when the facet gets turned off. Its why I paid a premium for my Z43, they will never import them again.

Yep really lucky I snagged one. Classic Firearms has 2 Z-5Ps left if anyone is looking. They had 7 when I bought mine and that was about 30 hours ago.
