Purchasing a Barrett 98B 338 Lapua

Hello everyone. New to Snipers Hide and this is my first post. I am looking at buying a Barrett 98B 338 Lapua and was told today that they may be discontinuing it. Has anyone heard this or is it a rumor. Also what are the pros and cons of the Barrett 98B? Just wanting to make sure that I am making the right purchase. I also like the Remington MDT Tac 21 in a 338 Lapua.Thanks in advance

I wouldn't doubt it being discontinued. They are all gung-ho with the MRAD.

Not a fan of the 98B myself but that's my own personal opinion. I've spent a day with one. Hated the ergonomics, but it shot true. Trigger left a little to be desired.

Don't let a discontinued system put you off though. You'll still be able to get parts for a long time, plus there are plenty of 98B's around. If you are set on a Barrett product though you might consider a MRAD instead.

Well it is no longer listed on their website, so it may indeed be discontinued. Aside from the ability to switch barrels, having a folding stock, and some cosmetic differences, it is mechanically the same as an MRAD.
