I have a couple projects planned for my next deployment to keep my free time interesting.
I got a ghillie setup drawn out and can't seem to find heavy duty snaps with the tool that you need to put them on.

Can anyone help me out?

Re: Putting Together a Ghillie. Have a question.

the actual ghillie part of the suit will be able to snap on and off to make it easier to clean the actual suit and good snaps should be able to hold it on as well. + interchangeable colors as well. Its a pretty awesome design I've drawn out in detail.

Here is a place that I have been getting them.
Fasnap

The "hard action" sockets is probably what you would want for this application as the standards are pretty weak.

They sell the dies to set them also.

Remember to show and tell after your done.

Ive made a lot of suits... never used snaps. Get it clean? Why would you want that? Mine is never clean. If it gets dirty, you could just hose it down.

Re: Putting Together a Ghillie. Have a question.

Never used snaps, make noise and can get dirty and not function. Clips or buttons work best. As for cleaning it? Cleaning to me would be as stated above, hosing it down or just make a quick trip through the nearest watering hole. Dirty with the local veg/dirt just makes it that much better.

Re: Putting Together a Ghillie. Have a question.

removable ghillie back pieces? not sold on that. any stalk site that i've done would rip that thing to shreds. thats why we knot and shoe-goo the hell outta those things onto heavier cammies. why not just a blanket/throwover ? I'd take that over any suit.

Re: Putting Together a Ghillie. Have a question.

Why clean a ghillie? Because you're not always creeping through the same landscape.
I assume by "clean"...he means, remove old veg and add new, but I could be wrong on that one.

We do this when we coyote hunt sometimes once a week. The grass used in the sand hills, doesn't work in the corn field, and the stuff for the corn field doesn't work on the alfalfa.
