PVA Status Updates: Hancock Rifle & NUCLEUS Barreled Action

For anyone getting a shouldered barrel and using the BARLOC, any idea what needs to be done to the threads and chambering on the barrel to account for the extra BARLOC and washer system?

I think someone's gonna have to make a trip to Washington to get a fire lit under somebody's ass.
Well I can do that, I'm right here in the nation's capital. Just let me know the name and address and I can go make it happen.

Sucks that red tape is holding this product up. We have always heard how the little shop is at a disadvantage in DC, now we have an example.

I want to say May. I also have a barreled action on order but I ordered it relatively late so I'm not expecting it anytime soon. Most likely will not be the first batch of actions Josh gets.

Status update on the Variance was posted here, just in case others might miss it I'll copy it below

Afternoon, All -

We got a really good piece of news. FINALLY we got the marking variance back approved from the ATF. ARC is notified and has confirmed that they are working on burning receivers immediately.
I do not have an exact lead on when the receivers will arrive here from ARC but they said it's a top priority to get those on the way.
They have 80 receivers waiting that need the following steps:

Laser engraving
Nitride treatment
Assembly & QC
Shipment to us

The tentative lead for us to have receivers here for Hancock assembly is 3-4 weeks based on past conversations with Ted.

Rock Creek confirmed more blanks are shipping from their shop today and we have most of the other parts in hand except for stocks, those are being ordered now from KRG.

We will email folks for FFL and payment as soon as we have a hard ship date on receivers from ARC to us. If you're waiting for a Hancock please do everyone a favor and get your FFL paperwork organized so we aren't holding rifles waiting for folks to find an FFL.

Thanks!

On barrels, I know we're behind on some barrels. Most of the stuff that doesn't require cerakote or a non-standard twist rate is shipped out. We have more blanks coming as part of the usual orders with Rock Creek and PROOF. Anyone waiting on a carbon barrel, so are we. The stuff is running 22wk from the 12-16 that we were quoted.

We got in our first batch of Origin receivers, they landed today. I have 4 receivers left unspoken for.
I also have 1 barreled action Origin in 6mm Creedmoor with a Whitley Palma contour (a shade heavier than Med Palma, slightly lighter than Marksman). It's a 26" with a Hybrid throat in it, cut rifled. Ready to go, call the shop for a crack at it - $1450 shipped no trigger

Tripods are delayed for a part in customs. It's frustrating getting the paperwork through and hearing yet another delay but that's part of the game I suppose when dealing with overseas production of parts.

We are making some more barrel nuts right now for all the various sizes. We ran out of the Tikka and RPR nuts, that delayed some barrel orders from shipping because we didn't have the nuts to go with them. Those nuts are all leaving for Nitride on Monday. I'm running material through the lathe all weekend to make that deadline.

How are the barreld Nucleus actions looking?
We have a good start on them, 12 receivers arrived and we got the springs swapped out.
We have notified the first guys in the list and shipped some of them. That's why I mentioned the FFL paperwork above, we still have several here that need paperwork in order to ship.

Either myself or Jeremy will update and let folks know when we get more Nucleus actions from ARC and those owners will get the email notification for balances and FFL as well.

First 5 rounds down shouldered PVA barrel.

From today’s email

I apologize for not sending something out sooner via email. We have been keeping the threads on Sniper's Hide updated as well as our FB page. It looks like the last email blast I sent out never made it and for that I apologize.
***I sent this out yesterday and only about 100 of you got it. Hoping our domain services people got this fixed. Sorry if this is a duplicate.

Nucleus Actions
ARC delivered a total of 12 actions currently. More are en route. We are going through each order individually and notifying customers as their actions come in. We are working through these as fast as possible. Expect more frequent updates moving forward.

John Hancock Rifles
We finally received ATF approval for our marking variance. The first batch of 50 receivers are in process for marking and heat treatment. We expect to have them in hand mid-October. We will be working fast to get these out to customers.

****Of the 100 or so emails that actually sent yesterday I got about 50 replies asking where you were in line. Unfortunately I don't have time to do that. I'm still backlogged with about 150 emails from the vacation I took last week. I will say this...the first batch of 50 goes up to somewhere in the middle/later half of February.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Interesting last part there... I’m not sure how that breaks down as far as caliber but, I’m excited to think I might see my JH before snow flies up here in Mass

I hope the barreled actions get mixed in with the Handcocks.

Barreled actions are behind the Hancocks in the sense that the receivers for the Hancocks were specifically ordered in quantity and are delivered ahead of the standard Nucleus actions. From multiple threads and info posted, I'm not expecting my barreled action until at least 2019.

me either and it makes me sad that we have missed the expected delivery dateS by so much, I am SOOOOO glad I didn't choose to shoot production this season. I would have missed the whole season!!! Doesn't matter to me when I get mine, I have a buddy that is going to buy it off me, and I have moved on to something else. I needed something else to shoot this season and when PVA and ARC couldn't get me something I was force to go to some one else. I was really looking forward to the nucleus but got to do what I got to do to keep in the game.

PVA posted a couple months ago that the Nucleus orders would be combined with ARCs orders and shipped by date/ time the order was received. Im not sure if that still holds true or not. Either way, I hope to start seeing more info about them shipping soon.

Barreled Nucleus actions have been shipping out as we receive actions for them, which to date was 12.

Anyone got a phone number for PVA? They are sitting on my three nucleus actions, and have not responded to the three emails I have sent in the last month.

Left a message on Phone Jeremy promptly called back and took care of the bulk of my issues. Apparently Jeremy did respond to the first of the three emails I had sent then was somehow distracted before he hit send, and had not yet gotten to the two more recent. At any rate my stuff will ship tomorrow.

JHR Update:
I spoke to Ted on Saturday and he confirmed to me that all the laser work for the first 80 JHR receivers is complete. The actions are going to nitride today.

The nitride process is pretty quick, a week or two at most. We should be seeing the very first production JHR receivers in our shop right around Halloween.

It's been a long haul on the project but we're almost there. I'm confident the rifles will be exceptional in hand.

Congrats on the JHR coming together! Do you have an update on the barreled actions as well?

We are in the midst of cutting more barrels for the next batch of Nucleus actions that arrived. The Samsung decided to spring a leak and start pumping coolant into the hydraulic system so I'm fixing that while Jeremy is working on the Haas lathe getting barrels for Nucleus orders worked on. The timeline for it is not something I can commit to on a daily basis as we are down on a machine that does about 70% of the chambering and muzzle threads waiting for a couple of new seals and a service tech to arrive. Not totally dead in the water but we're limping a bit right now.
