I was wondering when you do use the PVS-14 with the front cover with the small peep hole? It seems very grainy with the peep hole cover since ou have to turn up the gains. Thanks.

only time we used it was in the daylight to either function test it, OR to function check our lasers (peq4, peq15. peq2)

Yep, lets you turn it on in daylight/indoors ets with light on, and see IR emitters under the same conditions.

Use it briefly with the cover on during daylight. As had been said to test function or sight in. Few minutes won't hurt anything but long term will burn a center dot in your tube.
I have such a tube. Cap off for dark and on for daylight conditions. Keep its use for daylight to just a few minutes at a time to be safe.

What has been said-and you will burn out that tube if you use it WITHOUT the cover in daylight. Keep the cover attached.

Thanks everyone. I have was not planning to use it for daytime use at all but will keep the cap on just in case it accidentally turned on somehow.
