Night Vision PVS-22 vs PVS-27 for longer range night shooting.

Re: PVS-22 vs PVS-27 for longer range night shooting.

I've owned both for quite some time now.

The biggest advantage with the 27 is its large objective lens over the PVS-22 along with a "faster" lens which equates into much more light coming into the system which equates to more usable magnification in extremely low light conditions which can equate to longer range shootin'. Sorry for the LONG sentence. :)

Re: PVS-22 vs PVS-27 for longer range night shooting.

Is the 27 equivelant to the 26?
I'm just thinking about my next deployment funds expendatures (prepping ahead).

300 Win Mag, 190 Match. 3/4 moon, flat range, large open area.
PVS 22, silhouette head shots to 500. Lost ability to do so at 600.
PVS 27, silhouette head shots to 800 easy.

Haven't played with a 26 under the same conditions.

We are talking about the PVS-22, and NOT that awful PS-22 with it's famous hit or miss record that needs a mod to work out of the box...

I have used the McCann Industries systems as well as the Badger stock pocket rail for all our clip-on's

I have both as well as the 24. The 27 is huge, but it does have it's advantages. You'll gain much more light and have the ability to make shots much further than the 22. That was mentioned above. I think the 27 will withstand more recoil as well. Just my .02
