QD Attachment Options for a Harris Bipod

I am researching options for QD a Harris bipod to a pic rail. The two I found are the LaRue LT706 and the Alamo Four Star DLOC-S.

The one that is most interesting is the LaRue but I found that they don't want to sell the attachment point without the bipod. I have a ton of bipod's and really don't need more. Are there other options out there for QD a Harris to a pic rail (short of using a QD attachment and the Harris pinch attachment we are all so familiar with?).

Re: QD Attachment Options for a Harris Bipod

That is an LT-130, I am looking at the LT706. It replaces the Harris pinch attachment system with the lever lock system. It works great but as I have been switching between guns the rails are beginning to wear so am looking at alternatives (like the DLOC-S only a lever attachment system).

I am thinking of milling my own and bolt it to a ADM AD170S base. We'll see how much time I have over the holiday break (I would rather be hunting/shooting

Here is the DLOC-S system.

Imagine this replacing the Harris pinch attachment system with a throw lever mount such as one that American Defense Manufacturing makes.

LaRue does offer a similar product with their lever mount which is very nice and handy. I just dislike the wear the LaRue system puts on a rail from repeated mounting and dismounting of the unit.

The LaRue product is sold as a set as well which means that you have to purchase ANOTHER bipod just to get the LT706 mount.

I know, I know...buy an Atlas and my opportunities open up. The probelm is that the Atlas does not currently have a product to compete with a Harris 25C for coyote hunting in tall brush or grass.

BTW I do have one of the LaRue set-ups but replaced the knob with a lever from Terry Cross (KMW) as it is easier to work with one finger.

I will see if I can tear it down and take some photos so you can understand how it works

Re: QD Attachment Options for a Harris Bipod

The American Defense locks up solid and does not damage the rail, after mounting and switching between several different rifles while at the range itt doesnt show anynwearnon thenrails unlike the larue. If you wanna buy a larue, I will be selling mine in the very near future...

And the American Defense unit is adjustable so if your rail is already worn, painted or not quite within milspec it wil compensate for thensize difference without chewing it up or being loose...

MtGoat, Thanks for thnking about the Atlas.

The Atlas's outer legs have an ID of .50" and the Atlas has optional feet that are held in place with a small captive ball plunger which mates with a small hole in the outer legs. I tell you this to tell you that you can remove the feet then use a 1/2" dowel rod, cut to length (sitting), insert the dowel up into the outer leg and have what you need.

We might make some sort of telescoping leg in the future, might be easier just to buy a 25c size bipod and rob the legs from it, make an adapter, that will pin to the stolen legs and snap into the Atlas legs...

Or, find a adapter to hook same 25c to the rail....

LaRue LT706 installed on a Harris bipod.

LT706 removed from the bipod. Note thrust washer at the "rear" of the mount.

Here is the stud the mount came off.

Note the notches the pin has to align with to keep the shaft from spinning when adjusting the "swivel" tension.

All back together and ready to go.

I will have to study this a bit more to see if I can figure out an easy way to make my own and attach it to an AD170S mount.

The ADM AD-BM would work just not as slick as a direct attachment point.

I have been watching all of the cool support nylon that can carry several sets of legs....or a dowel

The Atlas has the short stuff covered...just trying to make the 25C as handy as the Atlas

Re: QD Attachment Options for a Harris Bipod

Yes but the LT attachment is hard on aluminum pic rails when installed and removed repeatedly. One or two installs just removes the paint...constant installs and removals starts to remove material from the rail and I don't have replaceable rails on my forearms (good excuse for a new forearm

Re: QD Attachment Options for a Harris Bipod

What you need to look at is just how much rail does a QD attachment device grab during lockup.
You can imagine if quite a lot of pressure is being applied to a small portion of a Pic rail then you can see where the wear and tear begins.
That is why the DLOC is so strong and yet easy on rails, 100% connectivity on all four sides of a pic rail.

Re: QD Attachment Options for a Harris Bipod

Is this the ARMS mount your were referring to?

So far the DLOC-S and LaRue appear to be the simplest/best attachment system. The ADM is a combination of the LT and DLOC (lever and "rail") but they don't offer the same simple Harris interface.

Re: QD Attachment Options for a Harris Bipod

He might be referring to this one Pat, I’m just not sure???

"Here is the new DLOC-S Gen 2 micro for Harris swivel bipods:
PC090132.jpg

Compared to the Harris upper. (note, the knob is fully unscrewed or open).
PC090133.jpg

Device and side knob fit within the bipod profile. Not sticking out the side to snag items.
PC090134.jpg

Same height profile.

The DLOC-S unit can be installed in just a few minutes if you don't have a Pod-Loc. If you have a Pod-Loc installed you can install the DLOC-S with NO TOOLS in a minute or two."

Re: QD Attachment Options for a Harris Bipod

Has anyone tried one of these? Not sure if you are looking for something purely tactical or a good way to hold your rig. I'm not associated with the guy but had seem them and really like the idea.
