I'm in the market for a quality one piece, non-QD scope mount for the AR platform. I was originally looking at Larue but not to sure now after reading reviews. What about JP? I would like to stay around the $250 range or under. Thanks

Aadmount, built like a tank. Over-built in every way. Go to there site and do a little reading about the engineering behind the design. Pretty impressive.

The Aadmount line of rings and one-piece base+rings was designed by Sniper's Hide member, Jon A, an engineer with Boeing Aerospace. Typical of engineers, and welcomed by guys like me, his rings and bases are absolutely bulletproof. You absolutely will not find a better designed nor durable (over-built) mounting system for your scope than an Aadmount selection.

In short, you can't go wrong if you use one of Jon's products.

I looked over the Aadmount and it is exactly what I am looking for but I failed to mention that my scope has a 34mm tube. I see that they offer inserts but I'm not to sure about that. What is yall's experience with using a mount and inserts to achieve the proper size? Thanks

Why not Larue. The only problem with Larue, not his mounts. They are actually very nice and make a lot of sense. I like Warne products for good with a fair price.

For an AR the Aadmount is a great option even with using the inserts.
I use inserts in one of my AI mounts and have zero issues with them.
The AI mounts, as Beenjammin says, are great but I would look for a cantilever type mount to top an AR style weapon.

Am currently using a Near Alphamount for 34mm scope tube, but would also recommend the Spuhr. Its good stuff for bolt guns too. Keep your eyes open and you might find a used one nearer to your price range.

Thanks for all the great recommendations. Now I have to make a decision as to which one.

Anyone use the Badger Ordnance Unimount? Is a 20 MOA cant needed on the AR platform or does it help? I see a lot of mounts offer that.
Thanks

Whether or not you need the extra 20 moa is dependant on your scope, caliber, and max distance you plan on shooting. But even if you don't need it,its nice to have a little extra plus it keeps the reticle closer to the center of the scope when dialing for longer distances.

I'll go out on a limb and say that if you're using a 34mm scope on an AR, you do not need the extra 20 MOA.

Thanks for pointing that out. I have a lot of learning to do still. I checked the elevation range on my optics and plugged the cartridge data into Ballistics AE and I think I'm good to go with a 0 cant mount. I guess either way I'll be fine.

The few mounts that I think I have it narrowed down to are the Badger Ordnance Unimount, Nightforce Unimount or JP mount. I really like the Aadmount but I'm unsure of buying the 35mm mount and using inserts. I found a Leupold MK6 34mm mount on amazon, any thoughts on that one?

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with using a 20 MOA mount on an AR. But a decent 34 mm scope has quite a bit of adjustment to use, and those tiny little AR cartridges tend to lose steam before a scope like that runs out of range. It's possible overthink the mount. If it is set up right for your scope and comes from a reputable manufacturer, it's fine. The only tricky part (other than fitting on the rifle) is the 20 MOA bit, which is more of a problem if you're using a high magnification scope without a lot of adjustment. They're all just lumps of machined metal when you get down to it.

I'm mounting a Steiner Military 3-12x50 on a 6.5 Grendel AR. The Steiner has 19.5 mils of elevation. The tiny little 6.5G Hornady A-Max, at 500 yards with a 100 yard zero, drops approximately 3.57 mils. I doubt I'll shoot much further than 500 yards so I should be good. Thanks
