Hey guys....competition seating dies...say like the forester .308 seating die...do they help with runout or are they basicly just for seating the ogive a specific distance from lans?..say compared to a lee or rcbs standard dies...all else being equal...

In ones head, you have to say the sliding sleeve has got to help support the case. But the neck diameter can never be the same, unless a smith reams it with the reamer your gun was built with. If you pay for them, you're inclined to say yes, but in reality???
I've seen some pretty quality ammo loaded with standard ides. Runout has already started before you seat a bullet.
I buy the comp dies because of ease of use.
