I have this never used FLIR RS-64 that I purchased, just as I started going blind from Macula Degeneration. So how do I place a fair value price for this scope. Yes, I am aware of how much people are urinated'off about FLIR stopping sales to the civilian market. I understand that effects the value of this "Never-Ever Used" scope, still as new in the box. I am not offering it for sale......however I would very much appreciate help in establishing its market value. Thank You.

The legacy models of the thermosight line with the internal battery pack only probably aren't bringing much now. I have zero idea about the used market but I would assume at a price of $1000. or less it might sell quickly.
Also, on the old internal battery only models like this, it's critical if your not using it to take it out and fully charge it at least a couple times a year. I've heard of the internal battery systems going to crap because of just sitting unused in ammo cans for years and years- never being taken out to charge up, etc.
Another reason to move it is that at some point Flir will stop supporting the old legacy models like that. I remember getting a quote a few years back for a customer with an older unit and it was about $400. or more to get a new internal battery for this PS24- I told the guy not to waste his money.

Well........I guess the next step is for me to contact Law Enforcement Agencies, and see if they are using them for paperweights. Likely some small town Law Enforcement Department will find a better use then weighting paper. One way or another I will find a "Fair" market price, for this, so I can be comfortable selling it at what is fair for both parties. If not then just smash it with a 10 pound sledgehammer. Sure can't risk it ending up in the wrong hands, if anarchy continues to escalate into civil war.

Sorry man, been there with the flir stuff. There used to be a shill around pumping up flir stuff & it did make it easier to sell. Kinda think the best option is get daHorta to buy it. 
That’s the trouble with buying technology and letting it sit. Something new and shiny is gonna come around quickly to replace it.
Your best bet is to get it listed at what you want for it and then start dropping the price until it sells. Unfortunately Flir’s reputation has gone down hill and that scope is several years old regardless of whether or not it was used.
Items are worth whatever someone will pay for them. Doesn’t matter what MSRP or book value is.

I am not going to sell it to anyone for any price till I figure out roughly what the value is. It is not a big deal.......I am fine with destroying it. If the military and Law Enforcement are purchasing them........then it must have a value. I'll see if any small town Law Enforcement departments are interested. At least it does not take up much space. I have a funny feeling that there may soon be someone in the downtown Portland, OR. area concerned with night security. Will just wait and see what develops.

Can’t tell if you are being melodramatic or just nonsensical. Sorry you didn’t get the answer you wanted that it’s still worth 95% of it’s original value.
If you want a more informed opinion then call a NV supplier and ask them. The original price on those were over $5k and you just aren’t going to get close to that. I’d guess maybe 50% of that IF you didn’t let the internal battery go to crap as mentioned above.

If it has no value.......rather then risk it getting into the wrong hands......better to destroy it. After all that is exactly why FLIR decided to stop sales to the general public......and restrict sales only to Military and Law Enforcement. They did not want to risk the liability if someone used one of their Rifle Scope for a night mass murder.

I could be wrong.....but my understanding is that it is not "Discontinued"....... sales are simple restricted to Military and Law Enforcement. They still honor the warranty, and they still service this model........even if owned currently by people whom they currently restrict sales.
Yeah sure, a company with a conscience.. they stopped selling them to the public so they could double or triple the price to Mil and police. They cannot defend an absurd price to people who are paying using the public's money if they sell them cheaper to civilians and they cannot compete if they don't price them right in the market.
Ummm...on price alone, the military pays far less than civilians. Of course, they buy in 5,000 quantity lots. But dollar for dollar (like rifles) they pay A LOT less than civilians. And this is coming from a guy that just got briefed internally on the new thermal stuff, and how much per unit cost is to the government.
Okay...but I know for a fact that you're wrong about the cost if we're talking weapon mounted thermals, and not helicopter mounted type, cooled systems.
That may be correct today, as they just barely closed the civilian market, assuming you are referring to Flir. Give them a couple months to fix I mean correct their pricing.
