hey all i picked up a m1a socom II a few months back from a trade. ive shot it a few times, i just lubed it with oil, i know im supposed to use grease. but what grease. i went to the gun shop and they didnt have anything for it. ive heard bearing grease will work from an auto shop. anybody have experience with this.

Years ago I started using RIG on my rifles for protection.

I also discoved ita a great grease for the M1A and M1s. I even got it for my AK NGs Rifle Team's M14s. It works great. Been using it for almost 30 years on my super match M1A.

LSA is still a decent lube for the M1A and is widely available. I have used it for many years on my Devine TX Match Grade and Devine TX Factory original Select fire. I still use it for the bolt roller bearing and use CLP in the raceways.

I use XF-7 Weapons Lubricant on all of my M14s.
It also works wonders on my DC Vortex when I use the suppressor.
